és roma elgázosításáról dönt. Megkezdi hírhedt
„ikerkísérleteit” a Német Kutatási Alap és a Vil -
mos Császár Intézet támogatásával, me lyek nek
számos zsidó és szinti kisgyermek esik áldozatul.

Az Auschwitz-Birkenau-i „cigánytábor” felszámolása.
A foglyok nagy részét kivégzik, a többieket
pedig más koncentrációs táborokba szállítják.
1945. május
Félmillióra becsülik a koncentrációs táborok -
ban, illetve az Einsatzgruppe-k által kivégzett
romák és szintik számát. A nácik által nyilvántartott
negyvenezer német és osztrák szintibôl
és romából több, mint huszonötezret gyilkoltak
meg.

Himmler’s ‘Auschwitz Decree’ for the deportation
of 22.000 Sinti and Roma from Europe, into
the section of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration
camp termed the ‘gypsy camp’.
May 1943
Dr. Mengele becomes SS camp doctor in Ausch -
witz. His first action is to gas several hundred
Sinti and Roma. He starts his fa m ous ‘research
on twins’, supported by the Ger man Research
Association and the Kaiser Wil helm Institute,
through the killing of Jewish and Sinti children.
2nd August 1994
Dissolution of the ‘gypsy camp’ in Auschwitz-
Birkenau. Most of the Roma are murdered, the
rest is deported to other concentration camps.
May 1945
The number of Roma and Sinti killed in concentration
camps and by the Einsatzgruppen by
the end of the war is estimated at half a million.
Of the 40.000 German and Austrian Sinti and
Roma registered by the Nazis, more than
25.000 are murdered.
