romákkal a huszonkettes barakkban. Utána<br />
elvittek egy másikba, ahol fôleg zsidók voltak.<br />
Három vagy négy barakk volt, akik állandóan<br />
dolgoztak, én azok közé kerültem. De nem<br />
sokáig, mert utána elkerültem az unokatest -<br />
véremhez.<br />
Ôt már harminckilencben elvitték. Ahogy<br />
ké sôbb mesélte, egy idôsebb soproni asszony el -<br />
csavargott a mi barakkunkból, kérdezték, honnan<br />
jött. Az asszony mondta, hogy Sopronból.<br />
Az unokatestvérem meg mondta, hogy Sop -<br />
ronperesztegen neki is vannak rokonai. Mondja<br />
ez a nô, hogy igen, hoztak onnan el három roma<br />
lányt. Mondta is a nevemet, hogy Magdus.<br />
Akkor az unokatestvérem már sej tet te, hogy<br />
biztosan én vagyok. És másnap este engedélyt<br />
kért az SS-es nôtôl, hogy bejöhessen hozzám,<br />
hogy ôneki egy testvére érkezett Ma -<br />
gyarországról. Kapott is tíz percet. Átjött a ba -<br />
rakkba, néztük egymást, kérdi, te vagy, ugye, a<br />
Magdus. Öt éve nem láttuk már egymást. Majd<br />
megôrült, mikor megtudta hogy mi történt<br />
velem. Sírtunk. Aztán mondta a kápó, hogy<br />
más kor is jöhet, beszélgethetünk még, de most<br />
már aztán elég.<br />
Aztán úgy január közepén megint jött<br />
értem egy SS-nô. Valahogy kiemelt, és akkor<br />

After the assembly everybody went back to<br />
their place, where we were given breakfast. They<br />
took some away to work. I was there for a<br />
month with the Roma in barrack number<br />
twenty-two. After that I was taken to another<br />
barrack, where mainly Jews stayed. There were<br />
three or four barracks that worked all the time.<br />
I was transferred to one of these, but not for<br />
long, because I was taken to my cousin later.<br />
They already took her away in thirty-nine.<br />
She later told me that an older woman from<br />
Sopron had loafed from our barrack and they<br />
asked her where she had come from. From<br />
Sopron, she said. Then my cousin told her that<br />
she had relatives in Sopronpereszteg. Then this<br />
woman told her that three Roma girls had been<br />
brought here. She also mentioned my name,<br />
Magdus. My cousin suspected that it was me.<br />
The next day she asked the SS woman’s permission<br />
to visit her cousin who had just arrived<br />
from Hungary. She was given ten<br />
minutes. She came over, we looked at each<br />
other and she asked: ‘Is it you Magdus?’ We had<br />
not seen each other for five years. She almost<br />
got mad when she found out what had happened<br />
to me. We cried. Then the chief said that<br />
she could come again and we would talk then<br />
but for that time we talked enough.<br />
Then in the middle of January another SS<br />
woman came for me. Somehow she had<br />
managed to transfer me, that’s how I got to my<br />
cousin. In that barrack everybody was to gether,<br />
they did not separate the Jews from the Roma.<br />
