introduction<br />

Running surface of the model “h/p/cosmos quasar med” for example is 170 x 65 cm / 66.0 x 25.6 inches,<br />

frame size 230 x 105 x 140 cm (90.6 x 41.3 x 55.1 inches).<br />

Running surface of the model “h/p/cosmos pulsar” for example is 190 x 65 cm / 74.8 x 25.6 inches, frame size 250 x 105<br />

x 140 cm (98.4 x 41.3 x 55.1 inches), <strong>machine</strong>’s weight approx. 400 kg (884 lbs), max. subject weight on <strong>running</strong> deck:<br />

200 kg (440lbs). The treadmill has both side h<strong>and</strong>rails <strong>and</strong> is in compliance with the norm EN 957-1 / EN 957-6. The<br />

overall impression is very sturdy, reliable <strong>and</strong> safe.<br />

[3.G] Performance claims & performance data<br />

The treadmill is simulating various adjustable speeds <strong>and</strong> various adjustable gradients to the subject. Performance data<br />

see operation manual technical specifications.<br />

The recommended <strong>and</strong> right endurance <strong>and</strong> dose of the load parameter (speed <strong>and</strong> elevation) <strong>and</strong> specific application<br />

in medical diagnostics <strong>and</strong> therapy is decided <strong>and</strong> supervised by the doctor.<br />

The treadmill is not calculating any medical parameter, is not performing any medical diagnosis <strong>and</strong> is not giving any<br />

recommendations for treatment.<br />

The medical treadmill can support the doctor <strong>and</strong> patient in their decision to perform stress tests <strong>and</strong> in physical<br />

movement of walking <strong>and</strong> <strong>running</strong>.<br />

Load simulation such as speed <strong>and</strong> elevation are non critical, as long as the device is used by adults <strong>and</strong> healthy<br />

subjects in similar way to load <strong>and</strong> stress in daily life (walking <strong>and</strong> <strong>running</strong>) <strong>and</strong> on a deck size of approx. L: 150cm x W:<br />

50cm until L: 190cm x W: 65cm which is an “unwritten st<strong>and</strong>ard” for medical <strong>and</strong> professional treadmills. The load <strong>and</strong><br />

condition to the subject will be very much similar independent from such size <strong>and</strong> configuration details, since the used<br />

load <strong>and</strong> condition to the patient will be independent from the detailed possible treadmill specs, because in diagnostics<br />

<strong>and</strong> therapy load protocols such as speed <strong>and</strong> elevation <strong>and</strong> duration are mainly st<strong>and</strong>ardized. See protocols such as<br />

[3.H] Describe how the device achieves its intended purpose<br />

The patient is asked to follow the speed of the belt <strong>and</strong> keep his position on the deck. By walking <strong>and</strong>/or <strong>running</strong> the<br />

physical condition of the patient can be analysed through treadmill stress test protocol <strong>and</strong> additional ECG or VO2max.<br />

(metabolic cart) diagnostic device. In physiotherapy <strong>and</strong> neurologic application the patient can be additionally secured<br />

<strong>and</strong> un-weighted with body weight support system <strong>and</strong> the gait can be analysed <strong>and</strong> corrected under safe <strong>and</strong> reproducible<br />

conditions.
