trouble shooting<br />
In order to prevent the <strong>running</strong> <strong>machine</strong> being interfered by such factors, place the device at some distance away from<br />
such interference sources. Do not rely on the indicated values if you suspect interference.<br />
Please also pay attention to the instruction of the manufacturer POLAR concerning interference at www.polar.fi or at<br />

[10.F1] Troubleshooting heart rate measurement system POLAR<br />
[10.F1] option Description Explanation / Display<br />
OP07 Activate: Acoustic heart rate signal % indicates: OFF or ON<br />
OFF: No acoustic heart-rate-signal<br />
ON: Acoustic heart-rate-signal for every beat. This function is normally<br />
used to control the regularity of the heart rate or to find reasons for<br />
transmitting problems (like mobile phones or computer monitors).<br />
[10.G] Malfunctions of the RS232 interface<br />
The most common causes for problem with the RS232 interface are<br />
N Wrong connection cable between the <strong>running</strong> <strong>machine</strong> <strong>and</strong> the periphery<br />
N Technical defects of the connection cable or male / female connector<br />
N False setting of protocols / driver at Running-Machine or periphery (ECG, PC, Ergospirometry)<br />
N False setting of COM port at periphery (ECG, PC, Ergospirometry)<br />
[10.G1] Troubleshooting <strong>and</strong> testing of the RS232 interface<br />
N Loop-Back Test: For testing the RS232 of the <strong>running</strong> <strong>machine</strong> a special RS232 test plug including testing<br />
instruction is available from the manufacturer. Connect the plug to the RS232 port <strong>and</strong> adjust option 20: 10<br />
N A blinking code <strong>and</strong> the instruction will tell you if input <strong>and</strong> output of the RS232 are working well.<br />
N PC software h/p/cosmos para control ® (Freeware): If you install the software to an external PC you can control<br />
the <strong>running</strong>-<strong>machine</strong>. If it works you know the <strong>running</strong>-<strong>machine</strong>, the RS232 interface connection cable <strong>and</strong> the<br />
RS232 interface card of the PC are working well.<br />
[10.H] Malfunctions of the control unit<br />
In rare cases, after several years of use, malfunctions of the control unit are possible because of worn battery power. In<br />
this case contact the service department to change the battery of the control unit.
Change language
