Chapter11Cleaning, EnvironmentalConditions, and MaintenanceFollowing the guidelines for care listed below will assure the best appearance and longest life of the <strong>Curlin</strong> <strong>Med</strong>icalpump.CleaningThe <strong>Curlin</strong> <strong>Med</strong>ical pumps are designed to be resistant to fluid spillage from any direction butare not to be immersed in solutions. Keep the pump and the pumping surfaces clean, dry, andfree of fluid spillage at all times. Do not use the pump in the shower, sauna, or steam bath and donot position the pump where it could accidentally be dropped into a container of fluid, (e.g. basin,tub, or toilet.) The pumping surfaces can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with any of thefollowing solutions, and dried with a soft cloth without harming the pump.Clean the pump, remote bolus cord, AC adapter, safety shells, holster and battery pack with a softcloth dampened in any of the following:• Warm soapy water (do not submerse)• Isopropyl alcohol• Household bleach, diluted 9:1 with water• Commercial disinfectant(Do NOT spray the cleaning solution directly on the pump.)Cleaning, MaintenanceIMPORTANTINFORMATIONThe following cleaning/disinfecting methods are specificallyprohibited:• Do not use full strength bleach• Do not autoclave or use steam sterilization• Do not clean in a dishwasher• Do not use acetone, lacquer thinner, or any other solvents orabrasive cleansers to clean the pumpWith proper care, the pump will retain its finish for many years ofservice.145
