If the KVO rate is set to 0, the pump will beep ten minutes prior to the beginning of theContinuous Therapy start time. To stop the audible beep, press the “Silence” key.IMPORTANTINFORMATIONDuring the delay start period, if the KVO rate is set to 0, no fluid isinfusing. Be sure the patient’s access device is patent and has beenflushed per facility policy to maintain patency during this time period.If a KVO rate is programmed, then that KVO rate will be used in theDelay Start period.4 TITRATE: Allows the programmer to set titration limits into the prescription settings of thepump. If there is no titration prescription, select “OFF” and press “YES/ENTER” toaccept. The cursor will move to the next field. If a titration prescription has been written,press the “NO” key to select “ON” and press the “YES/ENTER” key to accept. Thefollowing screen will appear to program the titration parameters:Continuous Titration Limit Screena. MaxRATE (Maximum Rate) limits: Use the numeric keys to enter the upper limits of theinfusion rate. When the maximum titration rate is entered correctly, press“YES/ENTER” and the cursor moves to the next field. The range for this field is from0.1 to 400 ml/hr.b. ACCEPT?: If there are any changes to be made, use the up or down arrows to move tothe desired field, use the numeric keys to enter the corrected data, and press“YES/ENTER” to accept the new values. Move the cursor back to the “ACCEPT?”field and enter “YES/ENTER”. The Titration Limit is now entered, and the displayreturns to the Pre-Prescription Screen. If the entire Titration Limit Screen is to beaborted, press “NO” to return to the Pre-Prescription Screen.5 NEXT?: If there are any changes to be made, use the up or down arrow keys to locate thefield to be changed, use the numeric keys to enter the corrected information, and press“YES/ENTER” to accept the new data. If all the fields are acceptable, move the cursor tothe “NEXT?” field and press the “YES/ENTER” key to move on to the next screen.Continuous TherapyAt the following screen, the prescription information is entered to complete the programming ofthe pump for a Continuous Therapy. Note that the Screen Identifier, at the left side of the display,gives the abbreviation “CON” for Continuous Therapy and has a down arrow configuration,which indicates that there are more than four fields of text or lines of information to beconsidered.43
