RFP MED-12-001 | Technical ProposalIowa Medicaid Enterprise System Service Procurement | MMIS and Core MMIS Operations• Sequence diagram• Collaboration diagram• Department chart diagram• Activity diagram• Three types of model management diagrams:• Package diagram• Model diagram• Module diagramNote that not every module or service has all of the same diagrams. Our approach involves using the rightdiagram for the right documentation. For example, collaboration diagrams are rarely used since we havefound that sequence diagrams serve the purpose adequately. Some services are fairly straight forward andmay only have use case diagrams and not any of the other diagrams. Our hypothesis is that the Department will findthat when we adapt previously used diagramsfor this new MMIS will provide the Departmentwith the information the Department and otherIME services contractors need to fulfill theobjectives of each deliverable. Use of the postDXD approval walk-through where existingdocumentation is compared with Departmentneeds will provide the opportunity for theDepartment to validate this premise on a DXDelement by DXD element basis and approve thepremise or make adjustments to it as required sothat the deliverable meets the Department'sbusiness needs.Team Noridian has successfully provideddetailed system documentation on other MMISimplementations. This documentation was usedby end users and contractors to support CMScertification of these systems and is being usedsuccessfully in day-to-day MMIS operations. Our approach for the new MMIS is toleverage—subject to Department approval—thisexperience and the existing documentation toprovide the Department with the highest qualitysystem documentation for use by Departmentstaff and professional services contractors usingand operating the new MMIS. We show anexample table of contents for the detail systemdesign in Figure 8-109.Figure 8-109. Table of Contents for the DSD.This sample table of contents encompasses thestandard DSD approach leveraged by Team CNSIon previous large MMIS projects and the contentsrequired by the Department.8 | 203
