Alcohol dehydrogenase
Acinetobacter calcoaceticus
Fig. 1.1.1.1 – 1
1) Reaction conditions
[1]: 0.036 M, 10 g · L –1 [278.30 g · mol –1 ]
pH: 5.9
T: 33 °C
medium: aqueous
reaction type: redox reaction
catalyst: solubilized enzyme (cell extract)
enzyme: alcohol-NAD + oxidoreductase (alcohol dehydrogenase)
strain: Acinetobacter calcoaceticus
CAS (enzyme): [9031–72–5]
2) Remarks
● The bioreduction can be carried out with whole cells as well as with cell extracts.
● To facilitate the cofactor regeneration of NADH, glucose dehydrogenase, glucose and NAD +
are added to the reaction medium.
● The educt is prepared by the following method:
EC 1.1.1.1
● This biotransformation is an alternative to the chemical synthesis via the chlorohydrin and
selective hydrolysis of the acyloxy group. By chemical synthesis an overall yield of 41 % after
final fractional distillation is achieved:
