F. W. Ciias. Eberhard, District No. 43 (German) —<br />

On account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se <strong>Lodge</strong>s being distinctive, inasmuch as <strong>the</strong>y<br />

work in German, and to give <strong>the</strong> Brethren an idea <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> German<br />

<strong>Lodge</strong>s in Cook county, I forward his report in full, which I believe<br />

will be <strong>of</strong> interest.<br />

"As requested I give you <strong>the</strong> following report <strong>of</strong> District No. 43.<br />

"New Chicago No. 506—Has a good staff consisting <strong>of</strong> chief<br />

captain and an assistant captain <strong>of</strong> each degree and sixty-four members<br />

<strong>of</strong> degree staff. Conferred First Degree at Palm <strong>Lodge</strong>; exhibition<br />

First Degree at Adelphi <strong>Lodge</strong> December 29th, 1912; and Cook County<br />

<strong>Lodge</strong> February 2, 1913; and First Degree at Lily <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West.<br />

"Koerner <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 756—Has a good staff captain. Assistant<br />

captain doing good work and it is in a flourishing condition.<br />

"Lily <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West No. 407—Has a fair working staff. <strong>Lodge</strong> is in<br />

good condition.<br />

"Palm <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 467—Has a good staff doing good work.<br />

"H<strong>of</strong>fnung <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 353—Has a good staff.<br />

"Goe<strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 329—Has a good staff and is working.<br />

"Douglas <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 432—Has a good staff but is somewhat slow.<br />

"John G. Potts <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 561—Has a good staff doing good work.<br />

"Garden City <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 389—Has a good staff but is going very<br />

"Harmonia <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 221—Has a fair staff.<br />

"Olympia <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 477—Is waking up from a long sleep, has a<br />

good staff, doing good work.<br />

"Robert Blum <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 58—Trying hard to get a staff but it<br />

seems <strong>the</strong>y have not enough young members or don't let <strong>the</strong>m come<br />

up.<br />

"Hutten <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 398—Not doing much.<br />

"On <strong>the</strong> whole, District No. 43, is in a very promising condition.<br />

Lily <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West No. 407 bought a church and rebuilt same for a<br />

temple, which affords <strong>the</strong>m facilities for good floor work. New Chicago<br />

ma*de an attempt to write <strong>the</strong> North Side <strong>Lodge</strong>s concerning <strong>the</strong> build-<br />

ing <strong>of</strong> a temple for Odd Fellows only, so it could be arranged especially<br />

for Odd Fellow degree work, but did not succeed as yet. The commit-<br />

tee is standing and <strong>the</strong> matter will be taken up again.<br />

"Koerner is planning to build <strong>the</strong>ir own hall."<br />

T. B. Blair, District No. 45—<br />

Bro<strong>the</strong>r Blair is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> oldest staff captains in <strong>the</strong> state and a<br />

member <strong>of</strong> Congress <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 362. Bro<strong>the</strong>r Blair has been active in<br />

bis District; visited many <strong>Lodge</strong>s and encouraged many <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> staffs
