The Opening Ode was sung-, and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Chaplain <strong>of</strong>fered<br />

The <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> was <strong>the</strong>n declared regularly opened for<br />

<strong>the</strong> transaction <strong>of</strong> business.<br />

Just prior to <strong>the</strong> convening <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>the</strong> Orphans'<br />

Home band played several selections. , .<br />

On behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Orphans' Home an up-<br />

holstered footstool was presented by Superintendent Lucas to<br />

<strong>Grand</strong> Master Jennings, made by <strong>the</strong> boys in <strong>the</strong> manual training<br />

school.<br />

Past <strong>Grand</strong> Master Yantis in <strong>the</strong> chair.<br />

Recurring to <strong>the</strong> question <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> adoption <strong>of</strong> Sec. i. Art. VII,<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Constitution, <strong>the</strong> chair ruled that <strong>the</strong> passage <strong>of</strong> this amend-<br />

ment shall require a two-thirds vote unless a petition for roll call<br />

is presented, and unless objection is made. No petition being pre-<br />

sented and no exception being made, a vote was taken by division<br />

and count, resulting as follows<br />

Two-thirds requirement, 580<br />

The amendment not having received a two-thirds vote <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

members present, was declared lost.<br />

John E. Jennings received 735<br />

Chas. E. Harris received 270<br />

Having received a majority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> votes cast, Bro. John E.<br />

Jennings was duly declared elected <strong>Grand</strong> Representative to <strong>the</strong><br />

Sovereign <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> for one vear.
