DOCUMENT NO. 7.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, I. O. 0. F.:<br />

Whereas, Previous to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> session <strong>of</strong> 1912 our By-<br />

Laws provided for $25.00 funeral benefit and $60.00 funeral expense;<br />

and<br />

Whereas, The <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> 1912 passed a resolution providing<br />

for only one fund, and that to be a benefit fund, making it possible<br />

that a bro<strong>the</strong>r may die with no provision made in our By-Laws for his<br />

burial, as <strong>the</strong> benefit can only be used by <strong>the</strong> written consent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

beneficiaries; <strong>the</strong>refore, be it<br />

Resolved, That Vernon <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 324, <strong>of</strong> Vernon, <strong>Illinois</strong>, ask <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> for relief by ei<strong>the</strong>r repealing <strong>the</strong> resolution<br />

passed in 1912 or change it to read Funeral Expense instead <strong>of</strong> Funeral<br />

Benefit, <strong>the</strong>reby making it absolutely certain that upon <strong>the</strong> death <strong>of</strong><br />

a bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> will have <strong>the</strong> money to give him decent sepulture.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, I. O. O. F.:<br />

We present <strong>the</strong> following resolution for your consideration:<br />

Resolved, That before <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong><br />

communicate <strong>the</strong> S. A. P. W. to any <strong>Lodge</strong> Deputy, that he require<br />

a certificate as to his financial standing in his <strong>Lodge</strong>, from <strong>the</strong> Financial<br />

Secretary, and signed by <strong>the</strong> Noble <strong>Grand</strong>, as we have a Deputy<br />

who is nine months in arrears, and would not come and install our<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficers, and we had to have our <strong>of</strong>ficers installed by a Past Noble<br />

<strong>Grand</strong>. The Deputy who is nine months in arrears is in possession<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ,S. A. P. W., while 76 members or more in good standing cannot<br />

get <strong>the</strong> S. A. P. W. W. Littlejohn,<br />

Representative.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, I. O. O. F.:<br />

Whereas, There are a number <strong>of</strong> petty funds in <strong>the</strong> treasury <strong>of</strong><br />

this <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>, that are being carried over from year to year, thus<br />

complicating <strong>the</strong> books <strong>of</strong> account and reports <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Treasurer.
