Carl Schoen.<br />

Carl Albert Schoen, son <strong>of</strong> Mrs. Lottie Schoen, <strong>of</strong> Girard, died<br />

August 4, 1913, aged 11 years, 6 months and 24 days.<br />

Carl had been in <strong>the</strong> Home almost five years and during <strong>the</strong> entire<br />

time seemed to be in <strong>the</strong> best <strong>of</strong> health, up to within three days <strong>of</strong> his<br />

departure. He was taken suddenly ill and, notwithstanding all <strong>the</strong><br />

medical skill attending him, <strong>the</strong>y were unable to restore him to health.<br />

We had five different doctors, but <strong>the</strong> disease baffled all.<br />

We miss Carl at <strong>the</strong> Home and <strong>the</strong> shock was very great, as he only<br />

lived three days after his sickness. The Odd Fellows <strong>of</strong> Girard put<br />

him away to rest with tender care and great affection. No Odd Fellow<br />

could have been given more attention nor could hands have been more<br />

loving than were those <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rebekahs and Odd Fellows <strong>of</strong> Girard.<br />

Rev. C. H. Turner, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Methodist church, preached <strong>the</strong> funeral<br />

sermon in <strong>the</strong> Christian church <strong>of</strong> Girard.<br />

This makes <strong>the</strong> seventh child <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Home to leave us in <strong>the</strong> last<br />

twenty-one years.
