DOCUMENT NO. 45.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, I. 0. O. F.:<br />

To amend Section 30, Art. IV, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Constitution <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Grand</strong><br />

<strong>Lodge</strong> by adding <strong>the</strong> following words after <strong>the</strong> first sentence:<br />

"By <strong>the</strong> Past <strong>Grand</strong>s who are <strong>the</strong> duly accredited representatives<br />

<strong>of</strong> this <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>, each <strong>Lodge</strong> being entitled to one vote on each<br />

ballot cast," so that when amended it shall read as follows:<br />

"Section 20. Election. All elective <strong>Grand</strong> Officers shall be chosen<br />

separately by a majority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> valid votes cast by <strong>the</strong> Past <strong>Grand</strong>s<br />

ivho are <strong>the</strong> duly acccredited representatives <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>, each<br />

<strong>Lodge</strong> being entitled to one vote on each ballot cast. When <strong>the</strong>re are<br />

but two candidates for <strong>the</strong> same <strong>of</strong>fice, in <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> a tie for two<br />

successive ballotings, <strong>the</strong> election shall be decided by lot. When<br />

<strong>the</strong>re are more than two candidates in nomination, and nei<strong>the</strong>r received<br />

a majority <strong>of</strong> votes at a balloting, <strong>the</strong> one receiving <strong>the</strong> fewest<br />

number <strong>of</strong> votes shall, after <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ballot has been announced,<br />

be, by <strong>the</strong> Chair, declared dropped from <strong>the</strong> nomination, and<br />

<strong>the</strong> balloting shall proceed."<br />

We, <strong>the</strong> undersigned Representatives, respectfully submit <strong>the</strong><br />

above amendment and recommend its adoption.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, I. 0. O. F.:<br />

Whereas, Many <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> best business men and a great many <strong>of</strong> our<br />

<strong>Lodge</strong>s prefer obtaining security for trust funds and for positions <strong>of</strong><br />

trust through <strong>the</strong> medium <strong>of</strong> a bonding company, ra<strong>the</strong>r than by per-<br />

sonal security, be it <strong>the</strong>refore<br />

Resolved, That section 6 <strong>of</strong> article III <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Subordinate <strong>Lodge</strong><br />

Constitution be amended by striking out all reference to <strong>the</strong> giving <strong>of</strong><br />

a financial secretary's bond, so that when said section is amended it<br />

will read as follows:<br />

Section 6. The Financial Secretary (if any be had) shall be<br />

chosen at <strong>the</strong> election in March. He shall keep <strong>the</strong> accounts between<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> and its members. He shall pay over to <strong>the</strong> Treasurer immediately<br />

all moneys received by him, and shall inform <strong>the</strong> Treasurer
