on and after <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> January next succeeding its adoption.<br />

NEW LEGISLATION.<br />

Resolution No. 2.<br />

Reps. Foxwell, <strong>of</strong> Maryland; Leedy, <strong>of</strong> Indiana; Emmins, <strong>of</strong> Texas;<br />

and Cox, <strong>of</strong> Kentucky, moved <strong>the</strong> following, which was referred to <strong>the</strong><br />

Committee on Printing Supplies:<br />

Resolved, That Section 1, <strong>of</strong> Article XXVIII, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> By-Laws <strong>of</strong><br />

The Sovereign <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> be amended as follows: By striking out<br />

<strong>the</strong> word "five" and inserting <strong>the</strong> word "six" in lieu <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong>, and by<br />

inserting <strong>the</strong> words "<strong>Grand</strong> Sire" between <strong>the</strong> words "<strong>the</strong>" and "<strong>Grand</strong>"<br />

in <strong>the</strong> fourth line <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong>, so that said section when amended will read<br />

as follows:<br />

1. "The Committee on Printing Supplies. There shall be appointed<br />

at each annual session, immediately before <strong>the</strong> final adjournment, a<br />

Committee on Printing Supplies, to consist <strong>of</strong> six members, including<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Sire, <strong>Grand</strong> Secretary, and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Treasurer."<br />

Report No. 17. By Rep. Leedy, <strong>of</strong> Indiana, from <strong>the</strong> Committee on<br />

Printing Supplies:<br />

To The Sovereign <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>, Independent Order <strong>of</strong> Odd Fellows:<br />

Your Committee on Printing [Supplies to whom was referred Reso-<br />

lution No. 2, amending Section 1 <strong>of</strong> Article XXVIII <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> By-Laws <strong>of</strong><br />

The Sovereign <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>, increasing <strong>the</strong> Committee on Printing<br />

Supplies to six members and making <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Sire a member <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong><br />

have had <strong>the</strong> same under consideration, and would recommend its<br />

adoption.<br />

Rep. Trautmann, <strong>of</strong> New York, moved <strong>the</strong> following, which was<br />

referred to <strong>the</strong> Committee on <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Order:<br />

Whereas, There is frequent request made to <strong>Grand</strong> Masters for<br />

dispensation to lay a cornerstone or dedicate a <strong>Lodge</strong> building on<br />

Sunday; and<br />

Whereas. These requests are granted by some <strong>Grand</strong> Masters and<br />

not by o<strong>the</strong>rs, according to <strong>the</strong>ir individual understanding <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> law;<br />

and
