in <strong>the</strong>ir work. He reports <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>s making good progress and<br />

much activity in <strong>the</strong> way <strong>of</strong> candidates, etc. In some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>s<br />

where help was needed more than o<strong>the</strong>rs, he has given <strong>the</strong>m special<br />

attention, with good results.<br />

Bro<strong>the</strong>r Brevitz isi <strong>the</strong> staff captain <strong>of</strong> John E. Ericsson <strong>Lodge</strong> No.<br />

361, and he has given a good deal <strong>of</strong> time to work in his District. He<br />

has qualified eleven Bro<strong>the</strong>rs in <strong>the</strong> unwritten work, and recommended<br />

commissions. Has visited nearly all* <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>s in his<br />

District, and reports <strong>the</strong>m in good condition. On account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> nature<br />

<strong>of</strong> his business calling him out <strong>of</strong> town a good deal, he says, he has<br />

been severely handicapped, but he has, never<strong>the</strong>less, found time to<br />

accomplish much good in his District.<br />

Following is <strong>the</strong> report <strong>of</strong> Bro<strong>the</strong>r I. C. Abney, Assistant Chief <strong>of</strong><br />

Examiners and Instructors, <strong>of</strong> Creal Springs. This report I forward to<br />

you in full which I believe will be <strong>of</strong> interest:<br />

INSTRUCTORS, CREAL SPRINGS, ILL.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> Hon. John E. Jennings, Sullivan, <strong>Illinois</strong>.<br />

Dear <strong>Grand</strong> Master Jennings: —Obedient to your request, and following<br />

<strong>the</strong> practice <strong>of</strong> my honorable and worthy predecessors,' I have<br />

<strong>the</strong> honor <strong>of</strong> submitting for your consideration my first annual report,<br />

as Assistant Chief <strong>of</strong> Examiners and Instructors <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> I. O. 0. F.. in<br />

<strong>the</strong> jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> (State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> for 1912 and 1913.<br />

It is with a sincere feeling <strong>of</strong> appreciation and gratitude for <strong>the</strong><br />

fraternal assistance which has been rendered me by yourself and all <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> with whom I have been associated in<br />

my <strong>of</strong>ficial duties during <strong>the</strong> year.<br />

In submitting this report, it brings to my mind, at <strong>the</strong> beginning<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year, <strong>the</strong> great and wise counsel <strong>of</strong> those words and encouragement<br />

<strong>of</strong> yourself and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Grand</strong> Officers, whose experience and<br />

knowledge were imparted to me, and brought me to see <strong>the</strong> grandeur<br />

<strong>of</strong> those beautiful lessons taught in our beloved order.<br />

It is not my intention to <strong>of</strong>fer any suggestions whatever, in my<br />

report, knowing full well that your report, toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> report<br />

<strong>of</strong> our worthy and honorable Chief <strong>of</strong> Examiners and Instructors, (H.<br />

M. Blood), will embody everything relating to our beloved Order.<br />

November 25, I put <strong>the</strong> Initiatory degree on for New Burnside<br />

<strong>Lodge</strong> No. 625'.
