The music at that time [1986] was really heavily influenced by a lot of the other things
that was happening around the 1980’s like for instance, in the 1980’s there was a new
romantic movement going on, a lot of synthbands were playing. A lot of the people who
were involved on the early days of the C 64 were all listening to people like Jean Michel
Jarre and Kraftwerk, all these kinds of bands, and so that influenced what people did. 266
that ’orchestral sound’. All my music is minimalist, I think it's because I learned my trade on the SID!!!”,
Hubbard: “The Golden Days” [16:50-17:26].
267
[MG]: “Music taste: Hmm.... pretty diverse after all these years. I ‘don't say no to’ jazz, classical ( movie
soundtracks), acoustic guitar, Floyd-style rock, some techno as long as it has a melody and is danceable... plus
the usual - Jarre, Thomas Dolby, Cocteau Twins, anything by Trevor Horn, etc.” [---] [AW]: “Looking back on
the tunes you did in the old days, do you feel total satisfactory yourself?” [MG]: “Can't change history, but if I
were to change one thing, I would take out all the versions of other people's music that I often did, primarily Mr.
Jarre, and replace them with more original tunes.”, intervju med Martin Galway av Andreas Wallström under
Intervju med Ben Daglish för Lemon64 av Ali Pouladi, genomförd 2004-02-06: [AP]: Were you a Jean
Michelle Jarre fan? [BD]: Not a fan as such - I liked the man's music, but not as much as others.” Tidigare i
intervjun framhåller Daglish att hans musikaliska inspiration springer ur ”5000 years of Western music, mixed
up with a smattering of the same from the Eastern tradition.” http://www.lemon64.com [2008-02-12].
BIT Live 16 maj 2001 i Birmingham: [Andreas Wallström]: “Do you agree with me that Ocean somewhat
played it safe by releasing a game of a popular movie or tv-serie, like Top Gun and Miami Vice? And do you
think that some of those games sold on their name without being that great?” [Martin Galway]: “Yes, although
Ocean were the leaders in working in that side of the business. Look at any kid's videogame store and you'll find
tons of licenses. Ocean were the first to explore that. You can say that it was bound to happen, but still, being at
the company that was doing it first gave us a great buzz. We were still allowed to create original games,
basically.”, http://www.c64.com/ [2008-02-13].
