21 Kin<strong>der</strong> und Jugendliche aus Hillbrow, einem Viertel in Johannesburg, entwerfen mögliche<br />
und unmögliche Zukunftsszenarien für ihren Stadtteil und seine Bewohner:innen.<br />
Hillbrow, ursprünglich als Vorzeigestadtteil geplant, ist mittlerweile berüchtigt für Armut<br />
und Korruption. Auf <strong>der</strong> Bühne ertanzen die Performer:innen Szenen über »das Hillbrow<br />
<strong>der</strong> Zukunft«. Wie sollte dieses Zusammenleben im Viertel in einer idealen Zukunft aussehen?<br />
Es entstehen Utopien und Dystopien von Ghettoisierung und Gentrifizierung.<br />
Aliens kommen auf die Erde und etablieren eine neue soziale Ordnung: Wer gut tanzen<br />
kann, hat das Sagen. Eine revolutionäre Prinzessin mit unendlich vielen Namen hat die<br />
Gabe, die Parameter von Zeit und Raum zu verän<strong>der</strong>n. Menschen haben gelernt, wie<br />
man vom Boden hochfe<strong>der</strong>t, anstatt sich mit kaputten Fahrstühlen herumzuschlagen.<br />
Die Performer:innen verhandeln Rassismus und Gewalt, die sie täglich erleben, und unterlaufen<br />
stereotype Narrative. Die unter Leitung <strong>der</strong> Choreografin Constanza Macras<br />
entstandene Arbeit fasziniert durch die ansteckende Energie und hinterfragt auf humorvolle<br />
Weise unseren Blick auf die Ordnung <strong>der</strong> Gesellschaft.<br />
21 children and young people from Hillbrow, a district of Johannesburg, outline possible<br />
and impossible scenarios for the future of their district and its inhabitants. Hillbrow, originally<br />
planned as a model development, is now infamous for its poverty and corruption.<br />
On stage the performers dance scenes about »the Hillbrow of the future«. What might<br />
a life together in the district look like in an ideal future? We see utopias and dystopias<br />
of ghettoisation and gentrification. Aliens land on earth and establish a new social<br />
hierarchy where good dancers call the shots. A revolutionary princess with an endless<br />
name has the gift of shifting the parameters of space and time. People have learned to<br />
levitate off the ground instead of struggling with broken elevators. They deal with the<br />
racism and violence they experience daily and subvert stereotypical narratives. The work,<br />
created un<strong>der</strong> the guidance of choreographer Constanza Macras, fascinates due to the<br />
infectious energy of its performers and humorously challenges our view of how the world<br />
operates.<br />
