<strong>The</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternal fitt<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>stable</strong> are a matter <strong>of</strong> taste ;<br />

<strong>and</strong> as every crow th<strong>in</strong>ks its own bird <strong>the</strong> whitest, so<br />

he might well be termed an unconscious, submissive<br />

servant. This truth we see verified <strong>in</strong> every day's<br />

experience by <strong>the</strong> abuses practised upon him. That he<br />

is so constituted by nature that he will not <strong>of</strong>fer resist-<br />

ance to any dem<strong>and</strong> made <strong>of</strong> him which he fully
