or straw colour, <strong>and</strong> mixed with pus ; <strong>in</strong> some <strong>in</strong>stances<br />

this is mixed with blood. This discharge is sometimes<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>uous, <strong>and</strong> at o<strong>the</strong>rs it is only occasionally squeezed<br />

out :<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> latter case it is generally thick, <strong>and</strong> when so<br />

<strong>the</strong> disease is generally on <strong>the</strong> wane. If, however, it is<br />

<strong>of</strong> long duration, it sometimes assumes a serious aspect,<br />

<strong>and</strong> may ultimately prove fatal. Sometimes this<br />

disease is accompanied with cough, <strong>and</strong> when it is so,<br />

<strong>the</strong> writer has found very good results from <strong>the</strong><br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g pectoral balls, given every day for a week.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y are also very good for <strong>horse</strong>s suffer<strong>in</strong>g from<br />

<strong>the</strong> v<strong>in</strong>egar on to <strong>the</strong> brick. <strong>The</strong> fumes are conf<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> rug, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> animal is forced to <strong>in</strong>hale it. This<br />

will be found to cleanse <strong>the</strong> nostrils <strong>and</strong> heal <strong>the</strong><br />

irritation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mucous membrane. If <strong>the</strong> disease is<br />

<strong>of</strong> long st<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g it may be as well to use Venice<br />

purpose <strong>the</strong> turpent<strong>in</strong>e should be mixed with bran,
