Four cutt<strong>in</strong>g units, each approximately 20 acres (8.1 ha), were harvested (fig. 6).<br />

Two were logged to conventional utilization standards, us<strong>in</strong>g common cha<strong>in</strong>saw fell<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

buck<strong>in</strong>g, and sawlog skidd<strong>in</strong>g. Residue volumes follow<strong>in</strong>g harvest<strong>in</strong>g on these units<br />

amounted to over 4,300 ft\er acre (121 m3). The two rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g units were logged to<br />

a near-complete utilization standard, us<strong>in</strong>g a feller-buncher, tree-lenqth skidd<strong>in</strong>g<br />

with rubber-tired grapple skidders, and segregat<strong>in</strong>g merchantable logs at the deck.<br />

A11 material not meet<strong>in</strong>g m<strong>in</strong>imum specifications for sawlogs was chipped, us<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

portable whole-tree chipper at the site.<br />
