(2) <strong>The</strong> Governor in Council may from time to time appoint for<br />

each reformatory prison a manager, a matron, and such other officers<br />

and attendants as he deems necessary.<br />

deemed to be a prison, and every person detained therein shall be<br />

deemed to be a prisoner, within the meaning of <strong>The</strong> Prisolns <strong>Act</strong>, 1890,<br />

and this <strong>Code</strong>.<br />

his sentence be detained during His Majesty’s<br />

(2) In every reformatory prison, female prisoners shall be detained<br />

in separate buildings or separate parts of the same buildings in such<br />

manner as to prevent their seeing, conversing, or holding any intercourse<br />

with male prisoners.<br />

E. AHcohsEc Li No person shall bring into a reforma-<br />

tory prison for the use of the prisoners any alcoholic liquor, nor shall<br />

any prisoner be allowed any alcoholic liquor.<br />

Any person who contravenes this section shall be liable to a fine not<br />

exceeding two hundred dollars:<br />

Provided that such liquor may be given to and used by the prisoners,<br />

when SO ordered for medicinal purposes in cases of illness.<br />

shall be employed in such labour as is prescribed by regulations or directed<br />

by the Home Secretary.<br />

(2) Wages, according to the scale prescribed by regulations for the<br />

class of labour in which any such prisoner is employed, shall (subject to<br />

such regulations) from time to time be credited to such prisoner in an<br />

account to be kept in each reformatory prison, and the amount from<br />

time to time standing to his credit shall be applied wholly or in part, as<br />

directed by the Home Secretary, towards ma~tain~ng his wiEe and children<br />

(if any) during the period of his detention, and the balance (if any)<br />

standing to his credit on his discharge shall be paid over to him.<br />

0. e. (1) Any person detained under this <strong>Act</strong> rnay apply to<br />

the Supreme Court or a judge thereof for a recommendation that such<br />

person, having sufficiently reformed, or for other sufficient reason may be<br />

discharged.<br />

Such Court or judge rnay thereupon make inquiry in such manner<br />

as is deemed fitting, and on being satisfied that such person has sufficiently<br />

reformed, or that there is some other sufficient reason to warrant his<br />

discharge, may recommend the Governor to discharge him accordingly.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> Governor may thereupon direct the discharge of such<br />

person; and may order that so long as such person remains in <strong>Queensland</strong><br />

he shall report his address and occupation to the principal officer of
