(c) To excite in good faith Her Majesty’s subjects to attempt<br />

to procure by lawful means the alteration of any matter in<br />

the State as by law established; or<br />

(d) To point out in good faith in order to their removal any<br />

matters which are producing or have a tendency to produce<br />

feelings of ill-will and enmity between different classes of<br />

Her Majesty’s subjects.<br />

Seditious words are words expressive of a seditious intention.<br />

<strong>The</strong> term “seditious writing’’ includes anything intended to be read,<br />

and any sign or visible representation, which is expressive of a seditious<br />

intention.<br />

e$. Any person who-<br />

(1 ) Administers, or is present at and consents to the administering<br />

of any oath or en~~~ement in the nature of an oath, purport-<br />

ing to bind the person who takes it to commit the crime of<br />

treason or murder, or any of the crimes defined in the<br />

second paragraph of section eighty-one and in section eighty-<br />

two of this <strong>Code</strong>; or<br />

(2) Takes any such oath or engagement, not being compelled<br />

to do so; or<br />

(3) Attempts to induce any person to take any such oath or<br />

engagement;<br />

is guilty of a crime, and is liable to imprisonment with hard labour for<br />

life, with or without solitary confinement.<br />

<strong>Act</strong> of 1971, No. 41, s. 7.<br />

enees. Any person who-<br />

(1) Administers, or is present at and consents to the ad~inister~g<br />

of, any oath or engagement in the nature of an oath,<br />

purporting to bind the person who takes it to act in any of<br />

the ways following, that is to say,-<br />

(a) To engage in any mutinous or seditious enterprise;<br />

(b) To commit any indictable offence not being any of the<br />

crimes mentioned or referred to in paragraph (1) of the<br />

last preceding section;<br />

(c) To disturb the public peace;<br />

(d) To be of any associatiorn, society, or confederacy, formed<br />

for the purpose of doing any such act as aforesaid;<br />

(e) To obey the order or commands of any committee or body<br />

of men not lawfully constituted, or of any leader or com-<br />

mander or other person not having authority by law for<br />

that purpose;<br />

(f) Not to inform or give evidence against any associate,<br />

confederate, or other person;<br />

(g) Not to reveal or discover any unlawful association, society,<br />

or confederacy, or any illegal act done or to be done, or<br />

any illegal oath or engagement that may have been<br />

administered or tendered to or taken by himself or any<br />

other person, or the import of any such oath or engage-<br />

ment; or
