VIII.-OFFENCES RELATING TO POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS.<br />

NO. 116.-STOPPING MAILS.<br />

Section 164.<br />

(1.) Stopped a mail conveyance with intent to search the mail.<br />

(2.) Stopped one E.F., who was then engaged in conveying [or delivering] a<br />

mtail, with intent to search the said mail.<br />

No. 117.-INTERCEPTING THINGS SENT BY POST OR TELEGRAPH.<br />

Section 165.<br />

Unlawfully secreted [or destroyed] [part of] a letter [or telegram (or as the<br />

case may be)] which was then in course of transmission by post [or telegraph].<br />

NO, 118.-TAMPERING WITH THINGS SENT BY POST OR TELEGRAPH.<br />

Section 166.<br />

(1.) Being employed by [or under] the Post and Telegraph Department,<br />

unlawfully and without authority opened a letter which was then in course of<br />

transmission by post [or suppressed part of a telegram which was then in course<br />

of transmission by telegraph (or as the case may be, stating the unauthorised<br />

act)].<br />

(2.) Being employed (&e. as in (l)), knowingly permitted one M.N. unlawfully<br />

and without authority to open (&c. as in (1)).<br />

NO. 119.---WILFUL MISDELIVERY OF THINGS SENT BY POST OR<br />

TELEGRAPH.<br />

Section 167.<br />

Being charged by virtue of his employment as a servant of the Postmaster-<br />

General [or by virtue of a contract between him and the Postma.ster-General or<br />

by virtue of his employment as a servant of one Q.R., who was under contract with<br />

the Postmaster-General for the conveyance of mails (or as the case may be)] with<br />

the delivery of a mail bag addressed to one E.F., the postmaster at A. [or of a<br />

letter or of a telegram (or as the case nzay be) addressed to one E.F. (or as the case<br />

may be)], wilfclly delivered the said mail bag (or &e.) to another person who was<br />

not authorised by the said EX. to receive it.<br />

KO. lSO.-OBTAINING LETTERS BY FALSE PRETENCES.<br />

Section 168.<br />

By falsely pretending [or stating] to one Q.R., a postmaster [or an oflieer<br />

(or a servant) of the Post and TeIegraph Department], that he the said AB. was<br />

authorised by one E.F. to receive letters addressed to him (or as the case may be,<br />

state substance of false pretence or misstatement) induced the said Q.R. to deliver<br />

to him, the said A.B., a letter [or telegram (as the case may be)] which was sent<br />

by post [or telegraph] and was not addressed to him,<br />

NO. 121.-SECRETING LETTERS, ETC.<br />

Section 169.<br />

Wilfully secreted [or detained1 a letter [or telegram (or as the case may be)]<br />

which, having been sent by post [or telegraph] addressed to one E.F., was found<br />

by the said A.B. [or was wrongly delivered to the said A.B.], and which ought to<br />

have been delivered to the said E.F., as he the said A.B. then well knew.<br />

NO. 122.-FRAUDULENT ISSUE OF MONEY ORDERS AND POSTAL<br />

NOTES,<br />

Section 170.<br />

Being employed by [or under] the Post and Telegraph Department, and being<br />

charged by virtue of such employment with the duty of issuing [or with duties<br />

in connection with the issue of] money orders [or postal notes], unlawfully a$ with<br />

intent to defraud issued a mouey order [or postal note] for $20 to [or in favour<br />

of] one M.N.<br />

NO. 123.-FRAUDULENT MESSAGES RESPECTING MONEY GRDERS.<br />

Section 171,<br />

Being employed by [or under] the Post and Telegraph Department, and being<br />

charged by grtue of sucli employment with duties in connection with money<br />

orders, sent to one M.N. a false [or misleading] letter [or telegram OT message]<br />

concernhg a money order [or concerning money payable to one E.F. under a<br />

money order], with intent, thereby then to defraud.
