148. Obstructing Officers of Courts of Justice. Any person who wilfully<br />

obstructs or resists any person lawfully charged with the execution of an<br />

order or warrant of any court of justice is guilty of a misdemeanour,<br />

and is liable to imprisonment with hard labour for one year, or to a fine<br />

of two hundred dollars.<br />

Or he may be summarily convicted before two justices, in which<br />

case he is liable to imprisonment with hard labour for six months, or to<br />

a fine of one hundred dollars.<br />

Decimal currency references substituted pursuant to section 7 of DeGimal<br />

Currency <strong>Act</strong> of 1965.<br />

CHAPTER XVIII-OFFENCES RELATING TO THE COIN<br />

efimitions. In this Chapter-<br />

<strong>The</strong> term “current,” applied to coin, includes coin of any of the<br />

kinds or denominations of coin which are coined in any of Her Majesty’s<br />

mints, or are lawfully current by virtue of any Proclamation or otherwise<br />

in any part of Her Majesty’s dominions whether within the United<br />

Kingdom or elsewhere;<br />

<strong>The</strong> term “metal” includes any mixture or alloy of metals;<br />

<strong>The</strong> term “copper,” applied to coin, includes any metal of less<br />

value than the silver or alloy of silver used in the silver coin of the<br />

country in question;<br />

<strong>The</strong> term “counterfeit,” applied to coin, means coin not genuine<br />

but resembling or apparently intended to resemble or pass for genuine<br />

coin, and includes genuine coin which has been prepared or altered so<br />

as to resemble or be apparently intended to resemble or pass for coin of<br />

a higher denomination, and also genuine coin which has been clipped<br />

or filed, or the size or weight of which has been otherwise diminished,<br />

and which has been prepared or altered so as to conceal such clipping,<br />

filing, or diminution: it includes any such coin whether it is or is not in a<br />

fit state to be uttered, and whether the process of preparation or alteration<br />

is or is not complete;<br />

<strong>The</strong> terms “gild” and “silver,” applied to coin, include producing<br />

the appearance of gold or silver respectively by any means whatever;<br />

<strong>The</strong> term “utter” means and includes using, dealing with, or acting<br />

upon, and attempting to use, deal with, or act upon, and attempting to<br />

induce any person to use, deal with, or act upon, the thing in question<br />

as if it were genuine.<br />

150. C Q ~ Gold ~ and ~ §aver e Coin. ~ Any ~ person ~ who ~ makes ~ or<br />

begins to make any counterfeit gold or silver coin is guilty of a crime.<br />

If the crime is committed with respect to current coin, he is liable<br />

to imprisonment with hard labour for life, with or without solitary confinement.<br />

If the crime is committed with respect to coin of a Foreign Prince<br />

or State, he is liable to imprisonment with hard labour for seven years,<br />

with or without solitary confinement.<br />

151. ti^^ for Coining Gold and Silver Coin. Any person who-<br />

(1) Gilds or silvers any piece of metal of a fit size or figure<br />

to be coined, with intent that it shall be coined into counter-<br />

feit gold or silver coin; or
