Here also we see th<strong>at</strong> the two trading centers showed less vari<strong>at</strong>ion than the University<br />

centre of Thenhippalam. However, it should be noted th<strong>at</strong> the growth of the services has<br />

not been as fast as the other sectors, which indic<strong>at</strong>es th<strong>at</strong> its initial promise as a provider<br />

of employment is gradually disappearing.<br />

Infrastructures<br />

Most of the areas except very interior areas are electrified <strong>and</strong> linked with roads. A<br />

number of bridges link the banks of Kadalundi River, making it easier for people to reach<br />

Chemmad, Calicut, Kottakkal <strong>and</strong> other nearby localities. Probably the most important<br />

development has been the establishment of NH_17 passing though the region <strong>and</strong> l<strong>at</strong>er,<br />

the setting up an Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Airport <strong>at</strong> Karippur, a few kilometers away from the<br />

region. The transport facilities in <strong>Tirurangadi</strong> can be summarized as follows:<br />
