SB 1398 Fund<br />

Fund Description<br />

The city receives funds from the state <strong>of</strong> Arizona pursuant to SB 1398, which established funding to pay<br />

for the purchase <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficer safety equipment. SB 1398 entitles the city to receive four dollars <strong>of</strong> the<br />

penalties assessed for each criminal <strong>of</strong>fense, civil traffic violation, violation <strong>of</strong> the motor vehicle statues,<br />

violation <strong>of</strong> any vehicle-related local ordinance, or the game and fish statutes in Title 17. In October 2012,<br />

a new special revenue fund was established to manage these funds.<br />

Major <strong>Budget</strong> Changes<br />

The total <strong>FY2014</strong> is a 2% increase over FY2013. Funding varies from year to year based on the penalties<br />

assessed. The <strong>FY2014</strong> budget includes planned expenditures <strong>of</strong> $40,100.<br />
