The FY2013 and <strong>FY2014</strong> forecasts are based on year-over-year percent increase data from the League <strong>of</strong> Arizona Cities and Towns. The<br />

forecast for future years is based on population and revenue per capita. State shared sales tax is distributed based on population. The 2010<br />

census resulted in increased revenues beginning in FY2012 as the city share <strong>of</strong> total population increased.<br />

Description<br />

State shared revenues are distributed to cities and towns based generally on the population at the last census or special census. Included in<br />

this category is the Highway Users Revenue Fund (HURF). This revenue source consists <strong>of</strong> state taxes collected on gasoline, vehicle<br />

licenses, and a number <strong>of</strong> other additional transportation related fees. These funds must be used for street and highway purposes. These<br />

revenues are recorded in the city's HURF.<br />
