Two data lines from table 40 document the most<br />

important difference between 'Lloyd-Jones'+'Stewart<br />

lecturers' and 'Rahner'+'Tillich lecturers' (question<br />

10:Bible and 9:Bible)."2- 2 An overwhelming majority of<br />

the 'Lloyd-Jones'+'Stewart lecturers' believe preaching<br />

must be true to the Bible, while less than half the<br />

'Rahner'+'Tillich lecturers' stated that axiom (question<br />

9). Similarly, four of five 'Llovd-Jones'+'Stewart<br />

lecturers' include in their lectures content relating to<br />

the Bible, while only half the 'Rahner'+'Tillich<br />

lecturers' do (10).<br />

A third data line points in the same direction,<br />

although with less dramatic statistics. The lecturers<br />

who follow Lloyd-Jones and Stewart see Biblical material<br />

as a primary component of preaching content (7). While<br />

the 'Rahner lecturers' position on this question is not<br />

far from that of 'Lloyd-Jones'+'Stewart lecturers', none<br />

of the 'Tillich lecturers' defined preaching content in<br />

terms of the Bible.<br />

Thus, responses to these questions document<br />

different emphases in answer to a single question: "From
