1 This study does not, in order to meet its overall<br />

purpose. necessitate comparisons more detailed than appear<br />

in this chapter. This is fortunate, for the dissertation<br />

length guidelines do not permit further discussion of these<br />

issues within this paper. The seven contrasting views on<br />

these issues would, within another context, provide bases<br />

for further fruitful inquiry.<br />
