Requirements for Bachelor of Arts with a<br />

Teaching Major in General Business Education:<br />

ACCT 201, 202; BUS 205, 301, 302, 303, 309,<br />

310, 350; ECON 201, 202; CSCI 305; EDUC<br />

205, (B or better), 284, 301, 305, 308, 309, 336,<br />

419; PSYC 310; SOC 300; U.S. history or government.<br />

All grades must be C or better unless specified.<br />

For entrance into the Practitioner Preparation<br />

program, students need a 2.7 cumulative and<br />

major grade-point average, a 3.0 GPA in education<br />

course work and 70 hours of field work. See<br />

and student teaching requirements.<br />

Requirements for Bachelor of Arts with a<br />

Teaching Major in Economics (7-12): 30 semester<br />

hours including ECON 201, 202, 205, 305,<br />

312, 313, BUS 350, and nine semester credits in<br />

economic electives. Education courses required<br />

for a teaching are found in the Education<br />

Course Descriptions<br />

BUS 050. Business Horizons<br />

2 credits<br />

Business Horizons is a special course available<br />

only to those high school students who successfully<br />

complete the Business Horizons program<br />

and meet the requirements specified for<br />

<strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong> credit. (Requirements include: registering<br />

for credit and preparing a final paper to be<br />

written and submitted within one week of completion<br />

of the program.) Business Horizons is<br />

sponsored by the <strong>Iowa</strong> Association of Business<br />

and Industry Foundation, local chambers of commerce,<br />

Junior Achievement and <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong>.<br />

BUS 101. Foundations of Business 3 credits<br />

Survey of the primary topics of business, including<br />

management, personnel, finances, marketing,<br />

economics, business ownership and ethics.<br />

BUS 201. Legal Environment of Business3 credits<br />

A practical overview of the law in relation to the<br />

transaction of business, with particular attention<br />

given to the study of material on law and regulation<br />

for managers. Prerequisite: Sophomore<br />

standing or above.<br />

BUS 205. Elementary Economic and<br />

Business <strong>St</strong>atistics<br />

3 credits<br />

Principles and techniques of basic descriptive statistics<br />

with their applications in social and business<br />

fields; probability models, random variables,<br />

probability distributions, expectations and estimations.<br />

Prerequisites: MATH 151 or equivalent;<br />

ECON 201 or 202.<br />

BUS 301. Business Law I<br />

3 credits<br />

A fundamental examination of the business<br />

aspects of law relating to the legal environment of<br />

business, contracts, agency, sales and commercial<br />

paper. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or above.<br />

BUS 302. Business Law II<br />

3 credits<br />

A continuation of BUS 301, dealing with the law<br />
