A study of financial accounting concepts at the<br />

international level. Concepts include foreign currency<br />

transactions, interpreting foreign financial<br />

statements, presentation of foreign/domestic<br />

financial statements, and the role of the accountant<br />

in international monetary transactions.<br />

Prerequisites: ACCT 301 and ACCT 302, or<br />

equivalent.<br />

MAC 620. Seminar in Graduate<br />

Accounting Topics<br />

1–3 credits<br />

An advanced study of specific accounting topics,<br />

issues or themes. Topics will be specified each<br />

semester. <strong>St</strong>udents may repeat course if it is on a<br />

separate topic not previously studied for credit.<br />

Prerequisites: minimum of ACCT 301 and ACCT<br />

302, or equivalent. Other prerequisites vary with<br />

topic being offered, subject to instructor’s discretion.<br />

This course provides student with a practical,<br />

real world experience in the field of accounting<br />

by working under the supervision of an accounting<br />

professional. A research project related to this<br />

work experience is required. Pass/No Pass course.<br />

College of Business<br />

The H.L. McLaughlin MBA program is designed<br />

to prepare managers and administrators for positions<br />

in business and industry as well as not-forprofit<br />

organizations. The MBA is a professional<br />

degree which is available to students with a bachelor’s<br />

degree in any major. The College of<br />

Business (including The H.L. McLaughlin MBA<br />

program) is nationally accredited by the<br />

Association of Collegiate Business Schools and<br />

Programs (ACBSP). It is also a member of the<br />

American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of<br />

Business (AACSB) and makes every effort to<br />

comply with their curriculum and admission<br />

guidelines.<br />

The part-time H.L. McLaughlin MBA program,<br />

at <strong>Davenport</strong> campus and each of its eight<br />

locations, provides an ideal educational opportunity<br />

for many professionals. They are able to<br />

earn a nationally accredited MBA degree by<br />

attending class in the evenings (and Saturdays or<br />

in the daytime at the <strong>Davenport</strong> campus) while<br />

maintaining a full-time career.<br />

The one-year MBA format is identical to the<br />

part-time MBA program in terms of requirements<br />

and course work. To complete the MBA requirements<br />

in just one year, students take courses during<br />

the pre-semester (pre-fall), fall semester, winter<br />

interim, spring semester, and summer sessions<br />

during the day and/or evenings and Saturdays at<br />

the <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong> campus in <strong>Davenport</strong> and/or<br />

evenings at the satellite campuses. Because of the<br />

rigorous course schedule, students in the one-year<br />

program are encouraged to keep outside employment<br />

to a minimum.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in any field<br />

may apply for admission to the <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> H.L. McLaughlin MBA program.<br />

Official transcripts from each undergraduate and<br />

graduate school attended must be sent to the<br />

College of Business Graduate Office. Candidates<br />

for the MBA program must submit an official<br />

score from the Graduate Management<br />

Admissions Test (GMAT). The test must be<br />

taken no longer than five (5) years prior to the<br />

student’s admission to the program. The admission<br />

formula is calculated by multiplying the<br />

undergraduate grade point average by 200 and<br />

adding the GMAT composite score. A minimum<br />
