Propaganda<br />

Process of public opinion formation and attitude<br />

change, including psychological basis. A description<br />

of American ideology, and the shape of contemporary<br />

opinion, influence of mass media, and<br />

problems faced in translating public opinion into<br />

government policy.<br />

PSCI 326. The Presidency<br />

Evaluates the current state of the presidency in<br />

terms of its political environment, organization<br />

and structure, and opportunities for making policy.<br />

Special focus on the prospects and limitations<br />

of reform as a tool for redefining the powers and<br />

roles of the presidency.<br />

Explores the membership of congress, how congress<br />

works, and politics of congressional policy<br />

Advanced course in constitutional theory and<br />

interpretation. Examination of some of the most<br />

controversial decisions in recent Supreme Court<br />

history, including cases on school prayer, flagburning,<br />

abortion and pornography. Includes reasoning<br />

behind these rulings and how they were<br />

formed by various approaches to constitutional<br />

interpretation.<br />
