MOT 600. Research III<br />

(Data Collection)<br />

2 credits<br />

Sampling methods learned in MOT 575 will be<br />

implemented and ethical data collection procedures<br />

for both quantitative and qualitative studies<br />

will be examined. Concepts of interrater and<br />

intrarater reliability utilizing various measurement<br />

instruments will be explored. <strong>St</strong>udents will<br />

collect data for their research project under faculty<br />

guidance. Prerequisite MOT 575.<br />

MOT 620. Advanced OT Across<br />

the Lifespan<br />

4 credits<br />

<strong>St</strong>udents will apply advanced knowledge to the<br />

OT frames of reference and techniques utilized<br />

across the life-span. It includes occupational therapy<br />

techniques utilizing various rehabilitation<br />

principles and theories for clients throughout the<br />

life-span. Special emphasis will be placed on evaluation<br />

and treatment of clients with physical<br />

and/or psychosocial conditions utilizing the neurorehabilitation,<br />

cognitive and biomechanical<br />

approaches. Prerequisite: MOT 570.<br />

MOT 630. OT Leadership<br />

and Management<br />

4 credits<br />

The student will develop skills in occupational<br />

therapy service management. This will include<br />

health care trends and legal issues. The student<br />

will develop a model for the delivery of occupational<br />

therapy services in a selected agency or<br />

facility.<br />

MOT 640. Clinical Reasoning and<br />

Ethics in OT<br />

3 credits<br />

This is an advanced level course designed to identify<br />

critical issues in the delivery of occupational<br />

therapy services. This course consists of analysis<br />

and discussion of clinical reasoning forms, ethical<br />

decision making processes, principles of professional<br />

behavior, methods for facilitating change<br />

within the profession of OT and in the wider<br />

arena of health care, and methods of collaborating<br />

with other health care personnel.<br />

MOT 645. Research IV<br />

2 credits<br />

<strong>St</strong>udents will continue to critically examine current<br />

Occupational Therapy literature and complete<br />

a research proposal; single case study design<br />

or research project. <strong>St</strong>udents will build upon<br />

research and scholarly knowledge gained from<br />

Research I, II and III in this course. Emphasis is<br />

placed upon critical analysis of current<br />

Occupational Therapy literature, encouraging<br />

students to be consumers of research, to foster<br />

critical evaluation of theories and techniques utilized<br />

in clinical practice. Upon completion of the<br />

course, the student will have submitted a manuscript<br />

for publication consideration or presented<br />

research findings to relevant faculty and student<br />

members of the campus community. Prerequisite:<br />

MOT 600.<br />

MOT 650. Level II Fieldwork<br />

Experience<br />

6 credits<br />

Three months of supervised fieldwork experience<br />

with any age client population. This Level II<br />

Fieldwork is the first of two and open to any traditional<br />

or non-traditional area within occupational<br />

therapy. This may include but is not limited<br />

to any (or any combination) of the following:<br />

psychosocial, physical disabilities, pediatrics,<br />

hand therapy, work hardening, home health,<br />

community, cardiac rehabilitation, and management.<br />

Clients may exhibit psychosocial and/or<br />

medical deficits affecting their work/productive<br />

activities, occupations of daily living, or<br />

play/leisure skills. Pass/No Pass grade.<br />

MOT 655. Level II Fieldwork<br />

Experience<br />

6 credits<br />

Three months of supervised fieldwork experience<br />

with any age client population. This Level II<br />

Fieldwork is the second of two and open to any<br />

traditional or non-traditional area within occupa-<br />
