and Adults<br />

Assessment of adolescent reading skills in various<br />

content areas. Methods and materials used in<br />

teaching developmental reading in junior and<br />

senior high content courses. Prerequisite:<br />

Graduate status or permission of instructor.<br />

EDUC 610. Counseling Adults<br />

with Disabilities<br />

3 credits<br />

An overview of current techniques and strategies<br />

used by counseling professionals as they interact<br />

with adult clients with disabilities. <strong>St</strong>udents will<br />

have the opportunity to apply counseling strategies<br />

to the treatment of adults with disabilities as<br />

they participate in role-playing exercises and<br />

complete a counseling internship. Prerequisite:<br />

Graduate status or instructor permission.<br />

EDUC 710. Research Methods 3 credits<br />

This course will provide students with basic skills<br />

in conducting educational research including<br />

rationale, types of research methodology and<br />

ethics.<br />

EDUC 711. Research <strong>St</strong>atistics 3 credits<br />

This course is an introduction and application of<br />

descriptive statistics, correlation estimation, and<br />

hypothesis testing through the use of the t,<br />

ANOVA, and Chi-Square.<br />

EDUC 715. Teaching Culturally Diverse <strong>St</strong>udents<br />

in Special Education Settings<br />

2 credits<br />

Designed to assist special education teachers in<br />

developing the understanding of issues surrounding<br />

cultural and gender diversity within special<br />

education settings. Prerequisites: SPED 210 or<br />

equivalent, graduate status, or permission of<br />

instructor.<br />

Program Overview<br />

The accelerated Master of Organizational<br />

Leadership (MOL) program at <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> is an interdisciplinary graduate program<br />

of study designed to develop skills and nurture<br />

abilities for effective leadership. Effective<br />

leadership is essential to the success of any<br />

endeavor in both the public and private sectors.<br />

Businesses, government agencies, elected offices,<br />

charitable organizations, and churches, to name a<br />

few, need valuable leaders who can identify, promote,<br />

and accomplish organizational goals and<br />

objectives. In this context, MOL program students<br />

will become more aware of their own<br />

strengths, attitudes, and behaviors, and the<br />

effects they have on others as leaders. The MOL<br />

program also provides individuals currently in or<br />

seeking leadership positions with the conceptual<br />

and analytical skills necessary for successful leadership.<br />
