provide materials and skills for teaching music in<br />

the classroom. Emphasis on basic theory, fundamental<br />

piano, guitar and singing.<br />

Seventh chords, dominant ninth, 11th and 13th<br />

The history and development of Christian worship<br />

with special emphasis on musical traditions.<br />

The theological, pastoral, and practical aspects of<br />

planning contemporary Catholic and Protestant<br />

worship services. Practical experience in liturgical<br />

planning. Prerequisite: Instructor permission.<br />

MUS 311. Chamber Singers<br />

1 credit<br />

A mixed-voice chamber choir of eight to 16<br />

singers which studies and performs significant literature<br />

for the chamber choir. Enrollment by<br />

audition. Maximum of four credits may be used<br />

toward completion of a degree.<br />

Essentials of conducting, with technique and<br />

Apprenticeship<br />

1 credit<br />

An independent conducting apprenticeship in<br />

vocal or instrumental music involving the preparation<br />

and concert direction of one or more<br />

pieces. May be repeated once for credit.<br />
