General Information<br />

Applicants who have completed less than 24<br />

semester or 36 quarter hours of credit also<br />

should have an official transcript of their high<br />

school records sent directly to the Office of<br />

Admissions.<br />

D. Submit a copy of test results from either the<br />

ACT or the SAT. High school students are<br />

encouraged to take either the ACT or the SAT<br />

examinations early in their senior year.<br />

(Individuals over the age of 22 years are<br />

exempt from this requirement).<br />

E. Submit a properly completed health form<br />

including health history, a physical examination<br />

by a physician, nurse practitioner, physician’s<br />

assistant or any other primary health<br />

care provider and immunization history to the<br />

Health Services Office. Transfer students may<br />

forward a copy of the health form they originally<br />

submitted to their previous institution.<br />

This information is confidential and available<br />

only to the Director of the Health Services.<br />

No information will be released without written<br />

consent of the student.<br />

Finance<br />

Procedures for Financial Aid<br />

and Scholarship Applicants<br />

<strong>St</strong>udents can obtain full information and applications<br />

for financial aid (scholarships, loans, grants<br />

and work-study programs ) from the Financial<br />

Aid Office.<br />

To be considered for financial aid, students<br />

must complete a Free Application for Federal<br />

<strong>St</strong>udent Aid and send it for processing. These<br />

forms are available in high school guidance<br />

offices, the <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong> <strong>University</strong> Financial Aid<br />

Office. and online at<br />

www.ed.gov/prog_info/SFA/FAFSA. This form is<br />

used to apply for need based funds.<br />

For <strong>Iowa</strong> residents, this information will be<br />

released to the <strong>Iowa</strong> College <strong>St</strong>udent Aid<br />

Commission and should reach the processor prior<br />

to July 1. Only students who submit this form on<br />

time are considered for <strong>Iowa</strong> Tuition Grant<br />

money.<br />

Need must be established by completing the<br />

financial aid form for all institutional, federal,<br />

and state funds such as loans, grants, and workstudy<br />

programs. This form must be completed<br />

each year for possible renewal of need based<br />

funds.<br />

All students receiving financial aid (federal,<br />

state, and/or institutional funds) are expected to<br />

complete all courses attempted while maintaining<br />

at least a cumulative grade point average of 2.0<br />

(undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate). The exception<br />

for graduate work holds that a GPA of 2.8–2.99<br />

shall be deemed satisfactory progress provided<br />

the GPA is raised to 3.0 after no more than two<br />

consecutive semesters.<br />

For purposes of financial aid, the academic<br />

year is defined as August 15 through August 14.<br />

All hours must be completed and/or cumulative<br />

grade point average earned at the minimum level<br />

by August 14 in order to receive funding for the<br />

following year.<br />

<strong>St</strong>udents who believe extenuating circumstances<br />

prevented them from meeting satisfactory<br />

progress requirements may submit a written letter<br />

of appeal to the Satisfactory Progress Committee.<br />

It should be sent to the Director of Financial Aid<br />

no later than two weeks prior to the start of the<br />

semester for which a student would like to be<br />

considered for aid. The Satisfactory Progress<br />

Committee will review the appeal and render a<br />

decision. There is no further appeal beyond this<br />

committee.<br />

A complete listing of all requirements is contained<br />

on the Terms of Satisfactory Progress and<br />

is available in the Financial Aid Office and is<br />

mailed with the first award letter each year.<br />

International students are not eligible for federal<br />

or state funding unless they meet certain conditions<br />

established by the United <strong>St</strong>ates<br />

Department of Immigration and Naturalization.<br />
