Undergraduate Programs<br />

may petition for admission.<br />

Prior to admission to ACCEL, students may<br />

need to complete standard <strong>University</strong> placement<br />

tests. Admission to <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Ambrose</strong> <strong>University</strong> does<br />

not imply admission to the ACCEL program.<br />

Policy on students enrolling in campus and<br />

ACCEL courses<br />

SAU students who<br />

• have declared majors not offered by ACCEL<br />

• have meet the ACCEL admission criteria<br />

• 24 credits,<br />

• GPA 2.0 or above,<br />

• 23 years of age or 3 years full time work<br />

experience<br />

• have approval of their on campus advisor<br />

(cognizant that the ACCEL format may not be<br />

appropriate for all students)<br />

• are paying tuition either in the zone or by the<br />

credit hour<br />

• are in good financial standing (no large outstanding<br />

tuition due)<br />

• have no outstanding incomplete grades<br />

will be allowed to enroll in SAU courses offered<br />

through the ACCEL program and pay the<br />

ACCEL tuition for each ACCEL course taken.<br />

(Credits taken through ACCEL will not be<br />

included in the zone tuition rate. Institutional<br />

grants/scholarships will not apply to ACCEL<br />

courses. Federal and state financial aid may be<br />

applied to ACCEL tuition.)<br />

<strong>St</strong>udents who have declared on campus majors<br />

may take no more than 9 credits in the declared<br />

major in ACCEL without the department chair’s<br />

permission.<br />

SAU students who have declared majors<br />

offered by ACCEL and are in good financial<br />

standing will be eligible to enroll in on campus<br />

courses and pay the on campus tuition. If these<br />

students enroll in 12 or more credits of on-campus<br />

coursework in one semester, they shall pay<br />

the zone tuition. Any financial aid for which<br />

these students qualify would apply to the tuition<br />

for the on campus credits.<br />

Accounting<br />

The Department of Accounting offers an undergraduate<br />

major in Accounting, International<br />

Accounting and Modern Languages, and a<br />

Master of Accounting program. The objective of<br />

the undergraduate accounting program is to provide<br />

skills and knowledge necessary for a professional<br />

career in public and private accounting, as<br />

well as for the not-for-profit and government<br />

accounting arena. In addition to providing services<br />

to other programs, the department offers a<br />

minor in accounting.<br />

Requirements for a Major: MATH 151 or equivalent<br />

as determined by the Accounting<br />

Department; 27 semester credits in required<br />

accounting courses including ACCT 201, 202,<br />

301, 302, 304, 305, 307, 309, 312 and six elective<br />

credits from ACCT 306, 310, 401, and 402;<br />

nine credits in economics including ECON 201,<br />

202, and 307 or 331; 15 credits in business<br />

administration including BUS 205, 301, 302, and<br />

six elective credits from BUS 303, 309, 310, 316,<br />

or 321.<br />

Requirements for a Major in International<br />

Accounting and Modern Language: MATH 151<br />

or equivalent as determined by the Accounting<br />

Department; 30 semester credits in accounting<br />

including ACCT 201, 202, 301, 302, 304, 305,<br />

307, 309, 312, 401 and three elective credits<br />

from ACCT 306, 310, and 402; nine credits in<br />

economics including ECON 201, 202, and 307<br />

or 331; 15 credits in business administration<br />

including BUS 205, 301, 302, and six elective<br />

credits from BUS 321, 322, ECON 331; MAC<br />

618; 12 semester credits of a foreign language (all<br />

one language) at 300-level or above, including a<br />

course in Business French, German or Spanish.<br />

Requirements for a Minor: 18 semester credits in<br />

accounting courses.<br />
