D. Locate and install boxes to allow access. Where installation is inaccessible, coordinate
locations and sizes of required access doors in accordance with other sections of the
specifications.
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. Do not install boxes back-to-back in walls. Provide minimum 6" separation, except provide
minimum 24" separation in acoustic-rated walls.
B. Locate boxes in masonry walls to require cutting of masonry unit corner only. Coordinate
masonry cutting to achieve neat openings for boxes.
C. Provide knockout closures for unused openings.
D. Use multiple-gang boxes where more than one (1) device is installed together; do not use
sectional boxes. Provide barriers to separate wiring of different voltage systems.
E. Install boxes in walls without damaging wall insulation.
F. Provide recessed outlet boxes in finished areas; secure boxes to interior wall and partition
studs, position to allow for surface finish thickness. Use stamped steel stud bridges for flush
outlets in hollow stud wall, and adjustable steel channel fasteners for flush ceiling outlet
boxes.
G. Align wall-mounted outlet boxes for switches, thermostats and similar devices.
