Section 8: Monitoring TemperatureRole of the Sensor in CalibrationThe temperature sensor has a primary function during calibration oftemperature-dependent water-quality parameters such as conductivity. When the calibration temperature is known, temperature compensationcan be provided during measurement of water-quality parameters. The temperature sensor also provides continuously updatedreal-time measurements of solution temperature when profiling.Ensure that the temperature sensor is immersed in at least one-halfinch of solution during calibration of all parameters. The fill line on theCal Cup serves as a guide to the recommended quantity of calibrationsolution. For best results, the water-quality sensors should be calibrated at thesame temperature that will be encountered in the field.Software FunctionsConversion of resistance (measured by the PRT) to temperature isautomatic in the software. No user calibration is required.ReferencesEaton, A.D., L.S. Clesceri, E.W. Rice, and A.E.
