Messen und Kongresse
Mit rund 40 Messen für Investitionsgüter, Konsumgüter
und Neue Technologien ist die Messe München
International (MMI) eine der weltweit führenden Messegesellschaften.
Am Standort München präsentieren
sich jährlich mehr als 30 000 Aussteller den rund 2
Millionen Besuchern. Zu den international führenden
Messen zählen in München unter anderem die Automatica,
Analytica, Bau, Bauma, Electronica, Expo
Real, Ispo, Laser und Productronica. Die Neue Messe
München verfügt über 16 moderne Messehallen mit
180 000 m 2 Hallenfläche und 360 000 m 2 Freigelände.
Das Internationale Congress Center München (ICM)
ist ein bedeutender Austragungsort für Großkongresse
und -events mit rund 100 Veranstaltungen jährlich.
Das ICM bietet bis zu 6 000 Sitzplätze im größten Saal
und rund 8 000 m 2 Ausstellungsfläche. 2012 fand im
ICM der internationale Kardiologenkongress der European
Society of Cardiology (ESC) mit rund 32 000
Herzspezialisten aus 150 Ländern statt. In einem Joint
Venture mit den Messegesellschaften Düsseldorf und
Hannover baute und betreibt die Messe München in
Kooperation mit chinesischen Partnern das New International
Expo Centre in Shanghai, das sich seit seiner
Eröffnung 2001 zu einem großen Erfolg entwickelt hat.
Mit sechs Auslandsbeteiligungen in Europa und Asien
sowie über 60 Auslandsvertretungen verfügt die MMI
über ein weltweites Netzwerk.
Glasfaserausbau
München ist eine der Modellstädte in Deutschland
für den flächendeckenden Ausbau des Glasfasernetzes.
Bis Ende 2013 werden die Stadtwerke München
(SWM) und deren Tochtergesellschaft m-net rund
32 000 Gebäude im Stadtgebiet innerhalb des Mittleren
Rings mit Glasfaseranschlüssen ausgestattet
haben. 350 000 Wohnungen, die Hälfte des gesamten
Münchner Wohnungsbestands, profitieren dann
von schnellen Glasfaserverbindungen bis direkt in die
Wohnung hinein.
Internationale Stadt mit

Die Münchner Lebensart ist weit über die Landesgrenzen
hinaus ein Begriff. Eine lebendige Gastronomieszene
mit Restaurants, Bars und Clubs für jeden
Geschmack garantiert Unterhaltung bis spät in die
Nacht. Die nahe gelegenen Alpen, der Englische Garten
und die Isarauen sowie eine Vielzahl von Seen

Glass fibre coverage
Munich is one of the model cities in Germany for the
comprehensive coverage of its glass fibre network. By
the end of 2013, the Munich utility company SWM and
its subsidiary m-net will have equipped around 32,000
buildings in the metropolitan area inside the Mittlerer
Ring road with glass fibre connections. 350,000
homes, half of all those in Munich, will then profit
from rapid glass-fibre lines leading right into their
homes.
International city with a
high standard of living
The Munich lifestyle is well known far beyond the
country’s borders. A lively gastronomy sector with restaurants,
bars and clubs to cater for every taste ensure
entertainment till late at night. The nearby Alps,
the English Garden, the meadowed banks of the Isar
and numerous lakes nearby offer the best possible
opportunities for rest and recreation. The Deutsches
Museum, the three Pinakothek art museums and the
Museum Brandhorst are internationally respected
with their exhibitions. With the Munich Philharmonic,
the symphony orchestra of the Bayerischer Rundfunk
broadcasting company and the Bavarian State Orchestra,
there are three internationally renowned orchestras
at home in Munich. The Bavarian State Opera
and numerous theatres ensure culture of the highest
quality. Munich is the safest large city in Germany.
The international management consultancy Mercer
ranks Munich 4th in the world of all cities in terms
of quality of life. The Mercer consultants assessed
221 major cities all over the world in 39 categories to
come to this conclusion. So it comes as no surprise
that many expats also feel attracted to the Munich
lifestyle and economic strength. With a 23% share of
foreigners, Munich is a very international city. 36% of
all Munich inhabitants originate from other countries.
There are more than 100 consulates in the city, and
numerous international commercial and cultural clubs
that work to support the exchange between Munich,
