München - Dynamischer Wirtschaftsstandort und Kulturraum im Herzen Europas

Vereinigten Werkstätten für Kunst im Handwerk und
1907 der Deutsche Werkbund gegründet. Der seit
2002 unregelmäßig veranstaltete Design Parcours, eine
Präsentation von Münchens Designern, von Grafiküber
Kommunikations-, Produkt- und Industriedesign,
zeigt die heutigen Entwicklungen eindrucksvoll und
die Munich Creative Business Week, die im Februar
2012 erstmals stattfand, hat die Qualität und Vielfalt
des Genres deutlich unterstrichen. Mit seinen zahlreichen
Agenturen und stilprägenden Designern wie
Konstantin Grcic, Stefan Diez, Mirko Borsche oder Ingo
Maurer gibt München den Ton an. Kultur bestimmt
in München nicht nur das Lebensgefühl, sie ist auch
ein Eisbrecher für die Kommunikation und die Wirtschaft.
Im Wandel von der Dienstleistungs- zur Kreativgesellschaft
ist München weit vorne. Urbanität in
Kombination mit Kunst und Kultur ergibt die Lebensqualität,
die die „creative class“ in München sucht
und findet. In der Pinakothek der Moderne, die auch
die Neue Sammlung beheimatet, finden sich unter
den Ikonen internationaler Designgeschichte erfreulich
viele Münchner.
Kulturelle Infrastruktur
Münchens kulturelle Infrastruktur versteht es auch mit
dem bundesweit dichtesten Netz an Stadtbibliotheken
und der europaweit größten Volkshochschule zu
punkten. Beide Einrichtungen stehen mit ihrem breit
gefächerten Bildungsangebot allen Bevölkerungsgruppen
und Altersstufen offen. Viele der Angebote werden
in Kooperation mit anderen Münchner Kultur- und
Bildungseinrichtungen, mit Hochschulen, Verbänden,
Vereinen und Initiativen durchgeführt. So tragen sie
zur individuellen Persönlichkeits- und Kompetenzentwicklung
ebenso bei wie zum sozialen Zusammenhalt
der Stadtgesellschaft und der dafür notwendigen Identifikation
und Integration der Menschen in ihren unterschiedlichen
Lebensbezügen und betreiben aktive Bildungsintegration.
Beide Institutionen sind Leuchttürme
im Bereich der kulturellen Bildung und von ebenso
großer Bedeutung wie die Pflege der Stadtteilkultur.
38 Stadtteilkulturzentren, lebendige Orte kulturellen
Engagements, die das „Bürgerrecht auf Kultur“, die
„Kultur für alle und von allen“ überzeugend und einladend
vertreten, sind bisher entstanden und weitere
werden künftig folgen.

one. Urbanity plus art and culture equals the quality
of life that the “creative class” in Munich seeks and
finds here. In the Pinakothek der Moderne, which is
also home to the New Collection, there is a pleasing
number of Munich natives among the icons of international
design history.
Cultural infrastructure
Munich’s cultural infrastructure also makes its mark
with Germany’s densest network of municipal libraries
and Europe’s largest adult education centre. These
both offer a broad range of educational opportunities
to all groups of the population and all age groups.
Many of the programmes are offered together with
other Munich cultural and educational institutions, in
cooperation with universities, associations and initiatives.
They contribute to individual personal and skill
development and to the social cohesiveness of the
urban society and to the identification and integration
of the diverse people, and they actively pursue educational
integration. Both institutions are beacons in the
field of cultural education and just as important as supporting
the cultures of the city’s districts. 38 district
cultural centres, lively places of cultural involvement
that invitingly represent the “citizen’s right to culture”,
“culture for everyone and from everyone”, have been
created already and more will follow in the future.
Folk culture and tradition
Bavarian style is a major trend right now. In Munich
there are traditional costume clubs, folk dancing
groups, culturally interested publicans, institutions
and young musical event organisers that make the folk
culture visible: The “Kocherl Ball” and the Oktoberfest,
the “Fraunhofer Folk Music Days” and the Folk Culture
programme in the Hofbräuhaus celebrate the folk cul-
