Oktoberfest
Das Oktoberfest – auch „Wiesn“ genannt – feierte 2010 sein 200-jähriges
Jubiläum und gilt heute als das größte Volksfest der Welt. Es findet traditionsgemäß
zu Füßen der Bavaria auf der Theresienwiese statt. Zwei Wochen
lang – von Mitte September bis Anfang Oktober – strömen bis zu sieben Millionen
Besucher auf die Wiesn, um die spektakulären, aber auch die nostalgischen
Fahrgeschäfte zu erproben und in den Festzelten Bier und Brotzeit
bei zünftiger Musik zu genießen. Jährlich werden rund sieben Millionen Maß
Bier getrunken sowie etwa 100 000 Paar Schweinswürstl und 500 000 Hendl
verzehrt. Zum festlichen Programm gehören vor allem der Einzug der Festwirte
und Brauereien, der Trachten- und Schützenzug, das Standkonzert aller
Wiesn-Kapellen und die Ehrung der Schützenkönige mit dem Böllerschießen
an der Bavaria.
Das Jubiläums-Oktoberfest auf dem Südteil der Theresienwiese sollte eigentlich
nur zum 200. Jahrestag des Oktoberfestes 2010 stattfinden. Diese Veranstaltung
war jedoch so ein Erfolg, dass Teile auch auf Dauer beibehalten werden.
Es gibt auf der „Oidn Wiesn“ ein historisches Festzelt sowie ein Kulturzelt
mit Tanzboden im traditionellen Stil. Dazu sorgen historische Fahrgeschäfte,
Musikkapellen und Schuhplattler für bayerische Atmosphäre.
Alle vier Jahre muss die „Oide Wiesn“ zugunsten des Zentralen Landwirtschaftsfestes
pausieren. Die vom Bayerischen Bauernverband veranstaltete
Ausstellung hat auch schon eine lange Tradition und fand 2012 zum 125. Mal
auf dem Südteil der Theresienwiese statt.
Oktoberfest

known as the biggest festival in the world. It is held at the feet of the Bavaria
statue on the Theresienwiese grounds. For two weeks – from mid-September
to early October – up to seven million people visit the Wiesn, to ride the spectacular
and nostalgic rides and to enjoy the beer, food, music and atmosphere
in the beer tents. Around seven million litres of beer are drunk there every
year, and around 100,000 pairs of pork sausages and 500,000 chickens are
devoured. Among the traditional highlights on the agenda are the procession
of the beer hall proprietors and breweries, the traditional costume procession,
the open-air concert of all the Wiesn bands and the honouring of the best
marksmen at the Bavaria statue.
The “Old Wiesn” at the south of the grounds was originally supposed to be held
only on the 200th anniversary in 2010, but it was so popular that parts of it
have been kept in the programme. It boasts a historical beer tent, a traditionalstyle
culture tent with dance floor, historical fairground rides and Schuhplattler
dancers for Bavarian atmosphere.
Every four years, the “Old Wiesn” has to take a break to make way for the Central
