Wenn ich aus meinem Bürofenster im 6. Stock auf
die Isarauen schaue, so schlägt mein Herz immer
noch höher: Der unverstellte Blick über die Isar
hinweg auf die Berge und „meine“ Stadt gibt mir
unweigerlich das Gefühl, zu Hause zu sein und ist
für mich Inspiration und Entspannung zugleich –
und ja, ich muss zugeben: Ich liebe diese Stadt! Mit
ihrer prachtvollen Bausubstanz, den imposanten Einkaufsstraßen,
dem Englischen Garten, dem Viktualienmarkt
und den unendlich vielen charmanten Plätzen.
Was mich an dieser Stadt besonders fasziniert sind ihre
Geschichten, ihre Historie, die hinter so vielen Häusern,
Orten und Menschen stecken. München ist unverkennbar:
gesellig, gemütlich und lebenslustig! Die
Münchner haben Humor, sind offen und auf eine sympathische
Art und Weise eigenwillig. Die Wiesn und
der Biergarten gehören zum Münchner Lebensgefühl –
und das schon lange nicht mehr nur ausschließlich für
das „bayerische Urgestein“. Und zugleich ist die bayerische
Hauptstadt Wirtschafts-, Wissenschafts-, und
Kunststandort – mit erstklassigen Universitäten, Forschungsinstituten,
Hightech-Firmen und fantastischen
Museen, Galerien und Konzerthäusern. Doch trotz allem
bin ich ab und an froh München den Rücken zu
kehren und raus aufs Land zu fahren, die Seen und Berge
zu genießen oder auch in andere Städte und Länder
zu reisen. Mit der wunderbaren Gewissheit, dass ich
ebenso gerne wieder nach München zurückkomme.

Kaum ein Kleidungsstück hat eine so starke Aussage
und ist so kompliziert zu fertigen wie der Handschuh.
Früher galten die Handschuhe vor allem als Insignien
der Macht und wurden von Königen, Kaisern, Zaren
und Päpsten getragen. Heute hingegen steht ein
Handschuh von Roeckl für hochwertige Handarbeit

The view of the grassy banks of the Isar from my
6th-floor office window still makes my heart beat
faster. The unobstructed outlook across the river,
“my” city and out to the Alps lets me know that I
am at home. It is both inspiration and relaxation
all at once for me.
Yes, I must confess: I love this city! With its magnificent
buildings, the stately shopping promenades,
the English Garden, the Viktualienmarkt and the innumerable
charming little squares. What fascinates
me most about this town are its stories, the history
behind so many buildings, places and people.
Munich is one of a kind: cosy, friendly and full of life!
The “Münchners” have a good sense of humour, are
open-minded and unconventional in their own, nice
way. The Oktoberfest and the beer gardens are part
of what makes Munich so special – and for a long
time now not only for true-blue Bavarians. At the
same time, the Bavarian capital is also a commercial,
academic and artistic venue, with top-class universities,
research institutes, high-tech companies,
museums, galleries and theatres. And yet, from time to
time I am happy to turn my back on Munich and travel
into the countryside, to enjoy the lakes and mountains
or visit other cities and countries, safe in the wonderful
knowledge that I will soon be returning to Munich.
