towards the Taxes valley. In this respect the group may be compared<br />

with the rock art cluster at Millstone Burn in northern Engl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

Travelling further north one reaches the valley <strong>of</strong> Taxes <strong>and</strong> in my<br />

opinion one continued towards the NE to reach the prominent outcrop<br />

at As Laxiñas with its extensive inl<strong>and</strong> views, rather than going steeply<br />

uphill towards the Laxe do Carrizo. Instead, a line <strong>of</strong> rock art sites<br />

further north leads uphill along the banks <strong>of</strong> a stream <strong>and</strong> probably<br />

connects with the high site at Chans de Tras. This line <strong>of</strong> rock art<br />

sites may have served as a territorial boundary <strong>and</strong> resembles similar<br />

lines <strong>of</strong> rock art sites, for instance at Paredes near Campo Lameiro<br />

(Fig. 49; inset) <strong>and</strong> A Puexa near Bayona (Fig. 38), the latter forming a<br />

distinct linear group, coinciding with an ancient, partially paved, track.<br />
