track.<br />

Most characteristic <strong>of</strong> the sites in the Taxes <strong>and</strong> Valdexería valleys is<br />

their high altitude <strong>and</strong> their concentration around the 300 m contour.<br />

It is also remarkable that there is no rock art on the west facing<br />

slopes <strong>of</strong> the Valdexería valley <strong>and</strong> further north <strong>and</strong> east from the<br />

Muros rock art concentration.<br />

Having discussed an example <strong>of</strong> a coastal distribution <strong>of</strong> Galician rock<br />

art sites, the Muros peninsula, I now will review a typical inl<strong>and</strong> group<br />

<strong>of</strong> rock art sites, at Gargamala. See next Chapter.<br />
