Descrizione
Profilo subpentagonale arrotondato e allargato. Profilo laterale biconvesso, con valva brachiale più
spessa e globosa di quella peduncolare, linea di commissura rettilinea. Fronte asimmetrica.
L’ornamentazione è costituita da coste sottili, basse e relativamente acute, tetradera-type, che
iniziano a circa la metà della lunghezza su entrambe le valve. L’umbone si presenta piccolo,
relativamente stretto ed eretto. Il foramen non è osservabile.
Discussione
L’ unico esemplare misurato, attribuito a tale specie (V11 O3), si differenzia dalle S. bouchardi
descritte per:
• larghezza molto maggiore della lunghezza;
• spessore totale non elevato;
• maggiore n° di coste (da 11 a 17 sulla valva dorsale).
Queste tre caratteristiche sono le stesse che Almèras (1994) usa per distinguere la S. rustica dalle
altre forme di Soaresirhynchia.
Altri esemplari molto simili si differenziano dalle altre Soaresirhynchia descritte perchè si
presentano molto più schiacciate, con una plica frontale molto più proietttata in avanti e con una
altezza del seno (hs) molto bassa.
