Un ligero ruido que venía del techo
sobresaltó al hermano menor. Miró las
vigas. A la luz temblona del fuego, vido,
horrorizado, que las varas se bían hecho
culebras y siban deslizando despacito,
con vueltas de trépano. Se puso de pie
espantado.
—No se espante, hijito: son las
masacuatas que tengo para que se
coman los ratones. Nuacen nada, son
mansas como gatos.
—¡Aunque no me quiera, yo nuago esa
papada!
siempre. Felipe empezó a poner en
práctica las lecciones de Manuel
Mujica. Pa la Lorenza la muñeca; y pa la
Chabela, y a su propio favor, el puro.
338. A hand-powered drill for wood-working.
A sudden noise coming from the roof
scared the younger brother. He looked
up at the beams. With the flickering
light of the fire he saw, horrified, that
the rafters had become snakes and that
they were slithering slowly, turning like
a trepan. 338 He jumped up, scared.
“Don’t you worry, son. Those are the
snakes I keep to eat the mice. They are
tame, like cats.”
“Even if she don’t love me, I will not do
this.”
“Don’t be stupid. She’s gonna love you
and the sister, who advises her against
you, will be hurt.”
“Look, Felipe, ma didn’t raise us to be
bad, remember her advice!”
“So fuck off you idiot. Fuck you!”
Since that day they separated forever.
Felipe began to put into practice the
lessons of Manuel Mujica, the sorcerer.
For Lorenza the doll; and for Chabela, at
his own request, the cigar prayer.
