2.2.2. NETWORK & COMMUNICATION LINK MANAGEMENT SERVICES
Network & Link Management Services shall cover the LAN Infrastructure &
WAN links across GAIL. This shall include following activities to be done
along with any other activities required to be done, for optimum utilization
of Networks and ensuring the availability of services :-
a) Daily monitoring of LAN, WAN, Wireless LAN & Video Conferencing Systems
/ Services, using the System Software, including all the active / passive
Network components & Link etc., troubleshooting and reporting the status
to respective GAIL Engineer In-charge as per formats decided by GAIL.
b) Configuration / Reconfiguration of Routers, dial-up Modems, High speed /
leased Modems, Layer-2 / Layer-3 switches, RAS, Hubs, Nodes, Wireless
Access points, Handheld devices like imate, Servers etc. for Network
operation, as and when required. Keep the back up of latest configuration
of Network devices and maintaining Documentation of all updates.
c) To provide troubleshooting, diagnosis and escalating the calls to concerned
vendors and to the technical backend team in case hardware or
configuration related problems occur and maintain database for the same
for future reference.
d) Provide services for configuration / reconfiguration of Network monitoring
tools such as CISCO Works and TACACS.
e) Provide services for operation & Management of Wireless LAN, as per
requirement.
f) Maintain an updated inventory / asset list of GAIL IT Network
Infrastructure.
g) Maintain and updated document for LAN / WAN network diagrams with
relevant details for all GAIL Locations. This shall include documentation for
changing the passwords of routers / switches.
h) Maintain TFTP Server to keep the configuration of the routers / switches.
i) Update firmware / IOS of the routers / switches whenever applicable.
j) Provide services for link / device augmentation / deletion, relocation,
connection / disconnection etc., as and when required.
k) Provide services for Protocol configuration on any new Router / Switch as
per existing routing protocol.
l) Maintain and update IP address list of complete Network and optimum
management of IP address. The Contractor should understand the existing
IP address scheme of GAIL and allocate the IP addresses including their
labeling for a new LAN segment, as per scheme under intimation to EIC.
