m) The contractor shall make all efforts to ensure the earliest availability<br />

of WAN links by rectification of faults and follow-ups through concerned<br />

agencies such as MTNL, BSNL,HECL, TOUCHTEL, VSNL (or any new Service<br />

provider to <strong>GAIL</strong>) etc. for making the links operational. This shall also<br />

include :-<br />

i. Visit to the MTNL / Bandwidth provider offices for applying to new links<br />

/ up-gradation of the existing links.<br />

ii. Regular follow-up with the MTNL / Telecom Authority branch offices for<br />

expediting the rectification of the link in case it fails or link condition<br />

deteriorates.<br />

iii. Verify the quality of the links and to contact the site engineers of the<br />

vendors / <strong>GAIL</strong> Engineers for rectification of the same, in addition to the<br />

follow ups with the Service providers apart from following up with<br />

concerned vendor or autorities for rectification of the same in case the<br />

link fails or the link condition deteriorates beyond the acceptable value.<br />

n) Data traffic monitoring and management of optimum data speed for each<br />

services and performance of the Network and record keeping. Also provide<br />

/ collect data for baseling the Network.<br />

o) Overall Network performance monitoring regularly by contractor supplied<br />

software etc and tuning of the Network as and when required and<br />

generation of logs. Peak traffic beyond 80% shall be brought to the notice<br />

of <strong>GAIL</strong> so as to plan for updation of the link etc.<br />

p) Limit broadcasts, monitoring the response time and taking corrective<br />

actions, such as traffic prioritization & QOS to ensure users satisfaction.<br />

q) Provide services for implementation of Network / Server security<br />

procedures / policy as per IS Audit requirements of <strong>GAIL</strong>.<br />

r) The details of the WAN Links from Noida / Delhi to other <strong>GAIL</strong> sites is given<br />

in Annexure – M (Diagrams of IT Setup).<br />

2.2.3 SERVER MANAGEMENT & RDBMS ADMINISTRATION SERVICE<br />

Server Management & RDBMS services for various Servers shall be<br />

provided by Contractor and shall include the following alongwith all other<br />

actions, which are necessary for optimum utilization of the Servers and<br />

ensure availability of various services:-<br />

a) Daily monitoring of Servers for the Server connection and troubleshooting,<br />

resolving server operational problems like system ‘hang’, hard disk crash,<br />

peak CPU duty cycle, network connection failure etc. and keeping a log of<br />

the same.<br />

b) Installation / Re-installation and support for Operating Systems & RDBMS,<br />

running on Server e.g. Solaris, HP-UX, Windows & Oracle RDBMS, SQL<br />

Server RDBMS, as and when required. Emergency repair Disk / password<br />

recovery disks should be maintained for all the Servers.<br />
