q) Provide support for Storage Management, such as :- a. Configuring disk arrays, RAID 0,1,5,6 etc. b. Configuring Veritas Clusters, Tape drives. c. Disk and file System cleanups & maintenance using System commands. d. Automation of disk cleanup operations. e. Adding new file systems, logical volumes and correcting file system inconsistencies. r) Performing periodic backup / restore of system files / volumes and maintain list of all systems, root directories and volumes and back up of the file systems. s) Security management – Configuring Account policy, Access rights, Password control. t) Verify logs in event logger and periodically clean up log files. u) Contractor shall ensure time synchronization of all servers preferably by the external standard clock & also ensure all critical services are running on the servers. v) Maintain list of all system files, root directories, volumes & System configuration. w) Take backups of the file systems and verifying the all system backups by periodically restoring the same. x) Ensure that Networks, Servers are kept virus / worm free. Anti-Virus software will be provided by GAIL. However contractor shall be required to arrange downloading latest anti-virus updates from the Internet & ensure its implementation immediately. y) The contractor shall be responsible for upkeep of server racks and server rooms, maintenance of records / registers, logs, standard operating procedures, procedure for shut down and restart of servers, backing-up and clearing of server logs. z) The contractor shall check health of the batteries in Servers (CMOS / RAID 5) and ensure that they get replaced at appropriate time. • The details of the Servers available at Noida Datacenter for performing MSS / FMS activities by contractor has been enclosed as Annexure-C. • The details of Servers & Networking devices installed at other locations are attached in Annexure-B. 156
2.2.4 DATA BACKUP AND RESTORE MANAGEMENT SERVICES GAIL has installed Veritas based Backup & Restore Management System along with Quantum Tape Library for taking data backups. Contractor shall provide all technical support for operation and management of these Backup & Storage Systems. The Scope of Services shall cover all Windows Servers, SUN Servers for operation of business / Web based applications packages in GAIL, Security Serves, Proxy Servers, E-mail, File / print Servers, Fax Server, GIS Server, CCTV Server, GMS Server & Geologic application Work Stations etc. Following are the list of activities, to be performed by the contractor:- a) Perform backup operations for the various Servers as per the defined backup strategy of GAIL. This includes incremental / differential backup on daily basis and total backup on weekly basis on the media provided by GAIL. In case the Contractor fails to take up the scheduled back up of any Server, the same shall be escalated properly under intimation to the IT in charge at GAIL. b) Ensuring secure storage and handling of media with back up to prevent data loss. c) Conduct restoration drills with sample backed up data on a monthly basis to confirm data reliability/ integrity. d) Maintain log sheets of backups taken & restore drills. e) Cleaning of the CD / LTO / DLT /DAT drives (with cleaning DATs) on quarterly basis for all drives. f) Contractor shall ensure that backups are taken as per defined schedule and successfully performed 100 % of planned restoration exercises. g) Contractor shall generate MIS Reports on planned backup and backup actually taken on monthly basis and quarterly report on the number and success of the restoration drills. h) Media for backup, provided by GAIL, can be hard disk / Floppy/ CD/ DVD/ DAT / LTO etc. i) Contractor shall ensure proper backup media management & keeping the record of offside sending / receiving of data backup media. 2.2.5 E-MAIL ADMINISTRATION SERVICES The Scope shall cover MS Exchange 2000 / 2003 server which is running on Windows 2000 / 2003 server and the clients with Office 2003 / Office 2000 / Office XP installed at GAIL. Following are the list of activities, to be performed by contractor:- a) Shall Configure Exchange 2000 / 2003 servers, running on Windows 2000. Shall also apply the latest security patches / Antivirus updates, as applicable, as and when required. 157
